Im not familiar with Karndean, but ive use Amtico on jobs before.
Ive found that these pvc 'wood' floors are generally very good quality but very expensive. I have found Amtico sometimes more expensive than a high quality 'real' wood laminate floor, such as Bruce, Kahrs or Junkers.if i had known then what i know now0 -
I used Karndean da Vinci woodplank in a staff restaurant some 5 years ago. It is an excellent product, though it is on the expensive side.
I was so impressed with it that a couple of years after doing the restaurant area with it, I did the staircase and five landings with it.0 -
Karndean good stuff, and i know a good fitter who lives in the Liverpool area0

I have Karndean in my kitchen, bathroom and dining room and am thrilled with it. My hubby designs hair salons and they often use this flooring. It is easy to clean (with the special cleaners - although I often don't use them) and has convinced most people who come round to my house that it is real wood (even though I happily tell them it isn't!). My hubby laid it himself with not much difficulty (although a whole week and a lot of swearing) and it looks wonderful. We have damaged it in a couple of places, but that is our own silly fault. If it was cheaper vinyl I thing it would look far worse.
I'd recommend it0 -
Its an excellent product and is roughly half the price of Amtico. However, both products are designed for heavy traffic so they'll last for ever in a domestic situation.0

While were on this subject,
I was in homebase today and they were selling similar a similar product
Vinyl wood strips.. I can't quite remember the make.. I think it was called TEMPSIO or something.
Anyway they had 20% off and it looked good. Anyone used it or got an opinion ?0 -
i went shopping for flooring and was advised to get for my bathroom karndean as it is warm under foot and is good quality and hard wearing suitable for bathrooms
but who stocks it in the north east and how good is it?
any help please
mrs ms0 -
we have karndean in our bathrooms excellent stuff and looks great a bit like amtigo but cheaper. We only use a damp mop to clean it it is warm underfoot unlike ceramic tile. karndean have a website karndean.co.uk and a fantistic showroom in eveshams wher you can go ang get some samples of tiles. ring and they will send broucher. None of the big flooring/carpet places seem to do it nor do john lewis bit we looked in yellow pages and rang around some independant carpet shops the little carpet shop in the village we live in actually we able to source if for us. Shop around as it varies in price we had one bathroom done under an insurance claim and it cost 100 more than the other bathroom we had done locally they both used the same no of tiles. They have lots of different styles and colours we have the mosaic tiles in the bathroom. When we have some spare pennies we will have their woodplank in the hallway as it looks so much better than laminate. I f you are good at DIY you can easily fit it yourself but we had ours fitted as husband doesn't do DIY.0

hello mrs money spender
My brother in law is a fully qualified Kardean fitter, and he has it in his own house whcih is quite posh, so it must be ok products. Unfortunately we live in the east midlands, but I'm sure he will be able to point you to the nearest stockist in your area.
Watch out for this thread tomorrow and I will worm the information out of him.....lol....
I too am considering haveing it in my kitchen and bathroom, but my OH is a qualified fitter also so won't cost me much I hope!!!!
Maybe my OH or brother in law depending on their worlk load could give you a quote??0 -
I have just ordered Karndean flooring for our Lounge, kitchen and bathroom. I was going to get real wood flooring in the lounge but went for Karndean instead due to it being low maintanance. It is fairly expensive but will last a long time. Depending on which range you choose it comes with at least a 12 year gurantee.
The Karndean website is excellent and has "Floor Style" application to download to help you decide on which flooring suits you. There is a massive choice.
The showroom is great if you live near by. If you live further away you can order samples online (very speedy - 4 days) and they will also send you a brochure and tell you where your nearest stockist is.
Can wait until mine is fitted :j0
