Let me just start by saying that I dont expect any sympathy or have received any.

. I would cut of my head if someone would pay for it.

    Ive got my tenner ready

so youve got a gambling addiction and your parents let you share their account. Truly scum lower than a SNAKES BELLY .
You say you would repay it ..you wouldnt make it past the first bookies
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
  • I truely waste my time going on forms making up stories like this. I needed some constructive advice and I believe I have had that, so thankyou. To all the others making abusive remarks I dont care what you think. I should be locked up and probably will. As for buying my brother a car and paying his mortgage for 1 year etc...I was a training instructor and worked my whole life sinse leaving university and saved alot. I got addicted to gambling and rejected that voice in my head that says "this is going nowhere".
I am looking for work but I find it hard being around people. I do have mental issues and I know with some support I can help atone for what I have done. I live in a country where people who blew people up for being the wrong religion and I see them shaking hands with OUR primeminister and raking in hundreds of thousands of pounds a year. If they can redeem themselves then surely I should be given the chance to do so aswell.
The bank told my mother they didnt know that i was using their joint account. (The reason I was using it was because the bank closed my account because i was always going overdrawn..you would to if you were being charged 100 pounds everytime you went 1 pound overdrawn)...I needed an account as work wouldnt pay me by cheque. I had been in touch with the bank twice in 3 months when they told me that i should have my own account. Once when they registered 40 pounds from an atm when i only took i 20 and once when work paid me 30,000 too much in my weekly pay. So they were aware I was using their account, do have a policy to warn their customers (with them for 25) years and that I had been gambling with my own account and the joint account. The teller even told my mother she thought it was me taking the money out and that she should have a word with me.
Our government is bailing the banks out when they have lost/wasted billions of peoples money but when the shoe is on the other foot its a different story.
No matter what happens I confidently predict i will be able to get back thousands of pounds in charges from this bank. They charged me 200 pounds one day for taking two seperate 10 pounds during a 10 minute period. I have a pension fund that I am cashing in and I am selling my car so I recon I can at least get them back 6,000. I'm moving out and will make arrangements to pay them the rest when I am back in work.

OP knows he stuffed up! he dosent need us to rub his face in it.
He has admitted his addiction and asked for help. All I can say is I am certain your parents still love you, you're their son,so just keep on trying to quit the gambling and pay back/help them in any way you can.
    Good luck, Arty.

I do believe that you suffer from mental health issues, You may also live the miserable existence you describe.
What I don't understand is that unless your Mother banks with Coutts or has a business line direct to the manager I see no way that she could speak with a teller, probably not anyway. Teller is not commonly used in UK either.
Withdrawing a huge amount is suspect too, and what bank would charge £100.00 be being overdrawn?
Aah, you're not in the UK? So morally you can be advised but the practical help has to relate to your own country, though I suspect a GA is available in every country.
Have you discussed all this with your mental health worker? If not , that would be a good starting point. Good luck and best wishes.

If you're shy to the point of being agraphobic...how'd you end up in the pub? Would you not be too shy to go where's there's lots of people?

If you persue this with the police you force your mother to support a prosecution against you, and a criminal conviction will adversely affect your job prospects and therefore the chances of reimbursing your parents. It might however ease your guilt which could be the reason you went to them?

It is unlikely that you will get a custodial sentance if indeed you haven't been in trouble before.

I would suggest that you seek some professional care for your parents which would give you time and space to put all of your efforts into working to pay off these debts. You would of course need to do this whilst abstaining from gambling though so seek help for this devastating habit as soon as possible.

Ivery much doubt there will be a custodial sentence taking into account your mental health problems etc.

Are you parents cards covered for fraud? If they aren't going to get the money back then is there a need to inolve the police? If however you have applied for credit card in your dads name and run up debts on them, its fraud and they will prosecute regardless of what your parents want to do.

I think the best thing you can do is to show your parents that you are trying to get better by arranging help with the addiction.

    1. Where is the missing £8k cheque?

    2. How can you "cash-in" a pension fund? - you normally can't touch them.

    3. You need to speak to the CAB.

    4. You need to get help for your problems.
