Absolutely not, sorry but if I sell for collection only then that is what I mean. I negotiate with the buyer to collect between 5-6 pm on Wednesday, the stuff is in bags (at best) or loose in the porch and if they are nice I'll help carry the stuff to the car.
I do not mean I'm happy to wait in all day, box the stuff, print off packing labels, have it weighed etc. If I want tio use a courier then i'll arrange it at my convenience.
Cheeky buyer, I don't know what to suggest here really apart from the usual about blocking them.
I agree that I would not wait in all day for a courier and neither should a seller be expected too unless prior arranged.
The point i was trying to make is that the buyer asked what time was convinent - so no different than the buyer picking up in person.
Don't think its unreasonable to ask for a box either.0 -
I'd be raging.
If I wanted to use a courier I'd have stated on the listing.0 -
The buyer should have asked the question before the auction had ended.0

Exactly my point
If they can't arrange the courier at a specific time, then they should come collect it themselves.
The OP should pick the time where they'd normally expect to be in for an arranged pick up, and if the courier doesn't turn up, they should go about their normal business.
There's many posts on here with collection only where people turn up at random times, or not at all, so technically no different to courier!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Did you collect though at a stated time in person or did you send a courier and expect the seller to wait in all day for them?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just a pov from an occasional eBay user.......I think this whole situation has come about from sheer lack of communication from both parties. Both were too quick to assume things.
The buyer perhaps assumed that pick up meant pick up....by anyone. She probably just thought the OP didn't want to have to go to the hassle of sending anywhere given the weight. She probably never considered other things such as having to wait in or that having to box up would be a problem etc. She was maybe just being unthinking or naive, rather than cheeky or pushy?
The point is, the seller didn't even try to arrange a mutually agreeable outcome, or to open a discussion about the issues, she immediately refunded. My cousin is a courier, if I need things picked up in a certain place, he will do it for me at the end of his shift so I can narrow down the timing to within 30 minutes. I'd have been a bit upset if I'd been refunded just because I'd mentioned the word courier and asked if the item could be boxed tbh. A simple email back to say "sorry, the whole point of pick up was to avoid having to box etc" would have had me apologising for being unthinking instead of wanting to give a neg.
Like I say, I'm no serious eBay user but I do sometimes think a lot of problems could be avoided with a little more tolerance all round.Herman - MP for all!
