tbh im worried about what other damage may be lurking.. if the dealership 'say' they have no record of it who knows what has happened to the car.

ive been told the car is new and never been told about any repairs to it (is this against the Sale of goods act?) if i had been at the point of sale i would have rejected the car... unfortunately i cant do now as its just over 30 days since ive found this out.
  • The dealer may not know as previously explained this may have been done in transit or even while the vehicle was at the factory.

The SOGA is notoriously grey so i wouldn't like to claim either way. All i would say is that in my time i have come accross many people trying to reject their cars because of "minor" defects involving solictors press and all sorts but little has ever come of it, (using the SOGA as the basis of their rejection).

Now if there if there is more wrong with the paintwork elsewhere on the car then it might be worth considering. This is why i suggested getting a independant inspection in one of my previous posts.

Someone hit my car so the insurance company sent me to a firm called National Accident Repairs to have the damage sorted out. Whilst there I noticed all sorts of brand new, unregistered cars in for small body repairs, no doubt caused whilst in transit, or being loaded/unloaded from transporters - where they do look as if they pack them in pretty tighly.

So in short, I would say it is possible to buy a 'brand new' car which has been repainted at some point prior to sale.
