New Car problem... where do i stand

They will respray it. You need to get this done at VW bodyshop, but i would contact the supplying dealer first to get them to organise that at somewhere local to you.
It might not have been resprayed by the supplying dealer a lot of damage happens while cars are in transit from the factories....if your car was unexpectedly delayed i'd say this was the reason. If this is the case the dealer may not know of the damage (so in one sense is a innocent party).
The logistics company will have just repaired it on site. A man a van and a spray gun job.
Or it might of been damaged at the dealers and they'd of done the same thing to repair it.
Either way you need to contact them explain the situation and hopefully they can organise for it to be repaired somewhere local to you.
If that doesn't work ring VW direct.0 -

thanks for that. my main concern is how this would affect resale value ? also would the dealer know this and if so are they allowed to withhold this info from me?0 -
does anyone know? im taking the car back into the garage i bought it from tomorrow and my main concerns of it having been resprayed is:
1) The car is devalued when i come to sell and it could also make it harder to sell (dealships wont touch it)
2) could alter possible buy back value with the finance comapny on the PCP (should i be telling them about the paint before i go into the garage tomorrow?)
3) vw dealerships thorughout the uk wont honour the warranty on the paint.
most of all im pretty let down that ive had this information withled from me if i had known the boot had been resprayed i would have rejected the car...
any advice and tips on how to deal with this tomorrowis more than appreciated0 -
the paint on my new vw was awful in patches, i picked it up on a wet day so it was hard to spot
took it back the day later to be told that thats just the way they come,
total rubbish like the rest of the car
Will never touch a VW again0 -
This is the first time you mentioned you'd bought it with finance I believe, so did the company you arranged the PCP through select the supplying dealer on your behalf? If so, ask the financing company to help you pressure for assistance as it was their dealer who potentially supplied the car (knowingly or not) with some paint re-work and therefore the funder will have some interest in the whole issue and getting it up to scrath (excuse the pun) for when it comes back to them.“Official Company Representative

i sourced the finance and dealer myself both independant from each other...DealDrivers wrote: »This is the first time you mentioned you'd bought it with finance I believe, so did the company you arranged the PCP through select the supplying dealer on your behalf? in terms resale value how much would a sprayed bodypart effect the value of the car?0 -

If you make sure they repair it properly this time then you shouldn't have any problems! Most cars out there have had some sort of cosmetic work done. If it is done properly noone should be able to tell dealerships or otherwise so it shouldn't make any difference. A letter from the supplying VW dealer will help cicumnavigate any future warranty issues.
I personally would leave of telling the finance company for the time being, but if you don't have any joy when speaking to the dealer then by all means get them involved.0 -
thanks for the response. Ill take your advise and leave off telling the finance company.Lemonade_Pockets wrote: »If you make sure they repair it properly this time then you shouldn't have any problems! The only thing that worries me is when my brothers mazda was resprayed and he came to sell it back to a mazda garage they put this device against the paint and told him it had been resprayed (which it had) and they wouldnt buy it..0 -
I would demand a new boot. I had a problem with a Peugeot a few years back with a scuffed rear bumper and they replaced it no problem.0

First time i've ever heard of them doing that when appraising a part ex. I assume it was gauge that measured the paint depth.
As somone else has suggested if you are really concerned about it demand a new boot. This should arrive sprayed from the factory so would avoid any of the problems mentioned. Expect a bit of resistance from the garage tho.0
