Feeling sorry for myself............

Really feel for you. I had all 4 out at once under general, 2 were impacted. I had never known anything like it, and thought that having my DD by a c-section was way better too. All I can say is that although its terrible now, give it about 14-20 days and it will all be back to normal. I had 2 whole weeks of scrambled eggs and yoghurts, and thought my mouth would never open again. But it did and yours will too.
With the swelling, mine went up and down, and only eventually went about 14 days later on one side. Also the bruising came out about 2-3 days later , I looked like someone had beaten me to a pulp, and strangled me, I had bruises all round my neck, God knows what they did to me.
Anyway, just so you know that now nearly a year later Im so glad I had it done, and Im sure you will do too.
Just think 2 weeks, not long eh.

Poor Squibbs, A large tub of Haagan Daas is prescribed. Cooling to the site and comfort food.
Years ago, mine were removed by a Mr Bar-an-eay, not the correct spelling. A brilliant dentist from S.A, at I think, no 1 Carnaby Street.
He removed them as he felt they may alter the shape of my face.
Out they came and I went off to the cinema munching a bag of liquorice allsorts. No bleeding and no pain. Best Dentist I've ever known.
Hope you are pain free soon.0 -
NOT very helpful, but a small silver lining...there will be weight loss. Always a good thing.0

Ouch ouch ouch!
I had all 4 wisdom teeth out in one go (they only wanted to take 2 out but I said look, you will NEVER get me back in here again, so whip the lot of em!!) ... it was Leeds Dental Hospital I had mine done at.
I caught an infection though two days later and was in agony ... if you smoke, do NOT smoke ... I did, idiot that I was, and they think that is what caused it.
(Have been stopped smoking for 6 years now though).
If you are in pain, you need to just get checked out ... they had me straight back in and packed my gums with seaweed ... I was in such agony they had to lay on top of me to hold me down but within seconds of having my gums packed the pain went away ... totally!
It was like a little miracle!
I had previously been ready for slamming my head against the wall because the pain had been so intense .. but it was just marvellous how quickly that seaweed started to work!
I had the stitches too but they were so tight I actually snapped them ... they were cutting my mouth to shreds where they had been stitched to the gum. I shouldn't have, of course, but when I went back the dentist asked if I had done it and when I said yes, he said he was surprised they were still put in "in this day and age" ... !!
Never mind ... stick with it ... it's worth it in the end!0 -
I never got wisdom teeth, but i did have to have two back teeth taken out as i used to grind my teeth, dentist couldn't do it as she said it needed to be done at the hospital as she thought there might of been a problem getting them out.
I opted for sedation where your still awake but won't remember anything about the procedure afterwards - what a load of rubbish, it didn't take, then the injection of anaesthetic in my mouth on one side didn't take so they tried to pull the tooth out without any pain relief, which then broke so they ended up cutting open my gum and i had to have a couple of stitches in it all without pain relief, it was a nightmare.
Then it got infected on one side so for two weeks i lived on cup a soup through a straw and water to drink, and i was on ibupofen and co-codamol. I have never felt pain like it and the co-codamol used to send me high, OH had to take the two weeks of work as i could hardly move around as everytime i stood up the room span and it felt like i was on drugs.
It took me nearly two years to get the courage to go to the dentist again after it, but i have told them i will never have another tooth removed.0 -
You'll forget the pain and look back on it as being the week you lost half a stone!
Well you will if you're the same as me - I went to hospital to have mine taken out and couldn't check for a few days, couldn't get my mouth wider than a straw width either. Grand excuse to drink chocolate milkshake.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Im also surprised at a couple of people mentioning straws. You really shouldn't. Kelly is so right^, it will draw the clot out of your extraction holes and you'll be bleeding again. You need the clot there to help keep infection away and so the hole can heal quickly. You just have to sip. My cups of tea used to go cold by the time Id finished them cos it took me so long, but it does get better.KellyWelly wrote: »I just saw somebody said to use straws - I was told not to use a straw to drink when I had my wisdom tooth out because the vaccuum or suction you create when you drink through the straw can pull out the clot and cause bleeding and prevent healing.0 -
Beebop, you are soooo lucky, and yes i do hate you right now
.
Did you have any stitches at all?
I have them in top and bottom gums and inside of cheek aswell.
Glad you had a good experience, nice to hear a cheery story for a change.
Wishing you all the best.
Squibbs xx
Yes I had stitches in all areas (but not on cheek). Really do feel for you as even though I had no problems I know personally people who have so I can be sympathetic!!!
I do hope the pain eases soon and swelling/bruising subsides quickly x0 -
Just an update:
I found out today as to why i was in so much pain, i have an infection !
Went to the emergency dentist this morning (as still in agony and also had really bad earache that started yesterday) who has diagnosed an infection. She has prescribed mega strong antibiotics so hopefully i'm on the mend and will soon be back to my 'normal' self
.
Thank you for all your good wishes and good advice.
