Feeling sorry for myself............

Morning guys,

I had my wisdom teeth taken out at the hospital on saturday, i've never known pain like it.
My face stopped swelling yesterday, its bruised (as semi expected) and i feel such a mess.
I knew it would be painful but was not prepared just to how painful, childbirth is a breeze compared to this :rotfl:
It's so sore i wanna scream (but can't open my mouth wide enough to ) and besides, i havent go the energy!

I'm hungry, haven't had a cup of coffee since Friday and feel totally fed up. I haven't had a decent nights sleep since Thursday either........

Oh well, thanks for listening.

    You have my sympathy!

I've had 3 wisdom teeth taken out, it's bloody horrible! I've got another one coming through at the back too.

Hope you're feeling better soon xx

Sorry didnt mean to scare you :o.
Mine were impacted (thats why so much pain apparently) also have a small mouth hence so many stitches.
I'm sure it'll be ok in a few days but honestly at the moment i feel like sh*t.
I have heard of other people who have had them done and had no problems whatsoever, hopefully you'll be like that...... guess i'm one of the unlucky ones.
If you do have a hard time, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to recover like i am.

I had all 4 taken out at the hospital. I ended up with a dislocated jaw and torn muscle so I know how you feel. Make sure you take the pain killers they've given you. Get some arnica cream (chemists, holland and barratt) and rub it on the bruising (it really helps!!!!) and invest in a pack of straws (I lived on McD's milkshakes), and try even some warm soup and stick to liquids at first. Find out whats most comforting for you warm or cold (test this with a warm towel against your face and a cool cloth from the fridge) and at night put a pillow case on your pillow thats warm (over radiator will do) or cool (fridge for an hour). Believe me this works. I've had a lot of surgery on my face and this always works for me, helps me get to sleep too.

Recovering from my latest round of facial surgery so I know how you're feeling (tooth extraction due to severe infection and a few incisions in my face). The other thing that might help is lavendar oil. A few drops on your pillow will help you sleep. Try and sleep on your back if you can or at least keep your face up towards the ceiling, it keeps pressure off you face and helps you get to sleep and stay asleep. When I was really bad, i'd prop pillows either side of me so I couldn't turn over.

    Get well soon.

Really sorry to hear that you are in pain - hope you feel better soon!
If it is any consolation to anyone who has got this op coming up - I had all four wisdom teeth removed (they were impacted and I had 4 abcesses as well) and I had no pain, swelling or bruising - I must have been one of the lucky ones!!!!
(I bet Squibbs you hate me right now!)

Beebop, you are soooo lucky, and yes i do hate you right now :D.
Did you have any stitches at all?
I have them in top and bottom gums and inside of cheek aswell.
Glad you had a good experience, nice to hear a cheery story for a change.
    Wishing you all the best.

Just to reassure you, mine were impacted and removed under general and it was all ok. The worst part for me was the yucky mouth wash, and I was sick after the general, but really, very short term discomfort. I had some cracking bruising and was a bi swollen for a day or so. Don't plan family photos for the few days afterwards ;)

    Squibs, could you eat jelly?

I've had the jelly - but under sufferance as i hate jelly normally!
I seem to be living on weatabix (that has been left if milk for so long its really sluggy) or ice cream.
But my poor stomach thinks my throat's been cut cos knows it's empty  :rotfl:
I fancy a lovely prawn salad sandwich, everytime i open the fridge i see the prawns teasing me :rotfl:.
I did the shopping then found out i was going into hospital afterwards as i'd agree'd to go on the cancellation list.

Hubby will just have to have the prawns in his lunch tomorrow.

    Thanks for the tips everyone.

If you fancy a prawn sanwich have it just nibble carefully and make sure and rinse all the bits away so nothing gets stuck (I speak from experience!)

I just saw somebody said to use straws - I was told not to use a straw to drink when I had my wisdom tooth out because the vaccuum or suction you create when you drink through the straw can pull out the clot and cause bleeding and prevent healing.
