Looking to pick up a bmw x5 just your thoughts should i look for and older model like yr 01, 02, with a lower mileage or a newer 54, 05 plate with higher mileage because looking on autotrader that is how it seems to work all the older one's have less miles than the newer one's dont ask me why i thought it would be the other way round. so just after your thoughts

Thanks

I don't like them at all and for that reason I'm out of this thread:rolleyes:.

Sorry can't be any help but I really, really don't like them. Not as much as I don't like Audi Q7s though.

It's the eternal question old low miles, or newer higher? probably makes a difference what you are plannning to do with it how many miles and how many years are you going to keep it?

Watch out for it being clocked you want some evidence of the milage being genuine.

absolutely beautiful motors. I would go for as new and higher spec as i could afford. The only thing is putting me off is isn't there talk of these been ££££hundreds to tax soon? (4x4's)

I think they are in the highest bracket which is why we will be handing back our RX-8 at the end of its three years. The tax on the very highest bracket could go anywhere under this government. £1000 a year wouldn't surprise me as a headline grabber.

Edit: Apparently I'm not out of this thread after all:rolleyes:.

Judging by how many times my old MDs X5 was in having work done, I would say no.

Very comfy and lots of toys, but I didnt like driving at all.

If you are looking at X5's the tax should not worry you are all ready accepting that your fuel bill will be 3 times more than it needs to be and the depreaciation of a stone.

Don't be silly, the motorway mpg of an X5 is hardly 3x an average car, and depreciation is nothing like as bad as you suggest.

depreciation is something i know about i bout a 06 vectra backin aug 06 it was 5 months old paid £11500 i think now i would be lucky to get £5000 for it and i owe around £6000 on it as for the fuel my vectra drinks it you canbe sat in traffic and see the petrol tank becoming less an less as you look so am all set for fuel costs to. as for the road tax its annoying but something we all have to deal with

lol, you can hardly compare the depreciation of a vectra to that of a BMW X5.

However, i can sympathise, i paid £14k for my Ford Titanium X '06, when it was one year old, it's worth about the same as your Vectra now!!
