When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Good morning lovely dfw's
,Hope you all have a lovely day today. The sun is shining so should be lovely here again, quiet day expected at work just lots of boring paperwork to do today.
Hugs to anyone feeling poorly or down, hope you feel better soon.
Today I will

Hi All
Thanks for your good wishes re the card problem yesterday. Hopefully the transactions will show up on my account today and then I can claim.
Today and yesterdays small things:
Brought lunch into work
Got some chocolates from a supplier at work for our team
Free scratches 2 x 10p - up to £10 on one of them now so when I do it tomorrow will be able to withdraw
:j
Try and win another book - I got the one I won through yesterday :j- Just won my second Galaxy book and it's only my second go!
:D:j:j
Rung up restaurant yesterday and got my first proper shift Thursday
Look for mystery shops
But petrol and drive economically
Going to see Jimmy Carr tonight :j
I have been looking over my tax return that I need to do for mystery shopping and it looks like alot of hassle for 4 or 5 shops. I will obviously do it but am a bit concerned about some things: why do they need to know about permanent employment that your employer already does your tax for? I have to put that I owe a student loan which needs to be paid and if my employer has taken any payments. They don't normally but did when my pay was changed to weekly so it looked like I earnt more so paid some - I am worried they are going to take loads I shouldn't be paying back yet. Also it says about second emplyment - in the last tax year I only did a trial shift which they were going to put through the tax but they didn't get to it so I got it paid in cash and it also asks for info on tips. There are so many people getting tips that don't declare it. Should I put I earnt the £30 odd pound and pay the tax or will that get wprk into trouble for not doing it or do I not put it down, I am worried about it as don't want to get myself or anyone into trouble and don't want to lose my job. Is it better this tax year to stop mystery shopping and just do the restaturant job? Sorry if on wrong board. Hoping someone is in a similar position who can help me.0 -
Morning all :hello:
Loads of work to do today, so must try to keep motivated - not too easy, as I got my notice of redundancy yesterday . Still I have plenty of notice (3 months) and I am not sorry (though a bit apprehensive) as I no longer enjoy the job, and haven't for some time.
So far today I have:
Checked online banking  OH MUST stop spending! Still he is back at work this week, so won't have the chance
Seen to animals and seedlings - something has eaten through the stem of one of my aubergines
Read newspaper online - always do, I only ever buy a Saturday one
Put washing in at 30 degrees
Nice porridge and banana for breakfast
Later I will:
Try to find out what tenant has done re a leaking shower and taking a wet electrical fitting to pieces  (now done, they DID take apart a wet mains fire alarm):eek::eek:
Speak to builder about investigating leak and electrician about potential electrical hazard. It is a nightmare trying to get anything done as the T always seems reluctant to either stay in to let tradespeople in or arrange for someone else to do so. If they don't want to bother to do so to get the shower fixed it is up to them (they may well not, as there is another one, and a bath as well, though it does make me cross when they mess our nice tradespeople about), but I DEFINITELY need to make sure the electrics are not unsafe asap . I am a VERY reluctant landlord, and really feel for others on here with awkward tenants / lodgers
Go to dentist
Meals from stores
Deliver invitations for DD2's wedding to friends - that will be all of them out thank goodness
Walk dogs for free exercise and to de-stress - though it didn't help last night, as Little Dog 1 ran off and wouldn't come back. I eventually spotted her but she was back across the field we had just returned from, and would not come back. I had to go and get her - she was eating a smelly dead rabbit  While I was getting her, Little Dog 2 decided she had had enough and disappeared as well. When I eventually got them both back home, Little Dog 1 sicked up the smelly rabbit on the kitchen floor
Oh dear, I am not having a very good day am I :rotfl:
Hopefully it can only improve :j0 -
Morning,
Sophiesmum – thanks for starting the thread as always
Fay – Hope you don’t get too wet
Urg – enjoy your massage
Debt Free Me – enjoy Jimmy Carr (v jealous)
Today I have/need to:
• Had breakfast at home
• Walk to town to meet SIL (who is buying lunch) and Niece
• Keep phone on in case of job offers
• Try for a LSD
• Done daily scratchy
• Update my job search file with recent activity
• Do college work
• Go for a nice shower as I ache from my gym session last night
• Last night signed up for Gym Miles (normally £6pa but I get it free). Apparently, every time I swipe my gym card I earn points which add up to vouchers
