shaun hon that does sound a tad abysmal. have you always lived in ireland? I have to say the budgets and assistance available here mean that either the very very very poor or the amazingly rich get help but the middle classes that work as hard as we can for a living or geninely are unable to do so due to illness or disability are left to struggle on. I have looked at going to university this last couple of weeks and the benefits that would be available, as a 31 yr old single woman i wouldn't have a hope of getting a bursary, only a student loan. i hate england with a passion!!! grrr.debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0

its not so much as the welfare is bad here, its a combination of things
things that dont help......cost of living,,,,,private house rental,,,,,loss of 187 euro p/m
welfare not keeping up with real costs
thing that will help
disability pension €240 pw,plus free bus, train, boats, for me and an adult......
standing ord and 250 units off gas or elec bills....free drs and medical (got this now)
free tv licence,,,,free land line and phone rental......€25 fuel allowance 26wks....rent allowance up to 75%..increase in child dependent from 15 per child to 30
i will get most of this which will help ,,,,but to get cloths,,holls,,,extras,,,
i need to get a council house!! and we dont have as big a % of them as you do in the uk,,,,

That's the way countries work - take money from those who have money to buy the votes of those who do not. You have only one vote, but enough money to buy the votes of 5 people."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
