A trilogy in seven parts.....hypno's latest efforts

Gosh, I am brave! Well, here goes!
Yes, this is a long-time lurker at last posting on the legendary Hypno's thread. I am so impressed by all your staggering money making efforts and your great marathon experience :Athat I have finally plucked up the courage (while little DS is asleep) to make my first post.
I have plans to clear our debt within the year so that we can move to a bigger house and one nearer to dd's school. We have one debt (aside from the mortgage) and that's with 1st plus (a consolidation loan taken out in 2002 for £39,000; 7 years of payments later (at £500 each and no missed payments) our debt still stands at £33,000:eek:). Plan to clear with money saving and spending as little as possible so that DH's drawings from his business just go into a pot to clear the horrendous 1st plus loan. We have only been able to think about clearing the loan since DH set up his own business last august and although i have suffered badly from PND after birth of DS (now 6 months old so hopefully coming through it) i am determined. It might also be that I can't resume my job when I return after maternity leave so we will have to be extra careful with what we spend!
Anyway sorry for wittering on! Just want to say what an inspiration your thread(s) have been over the last few months.:T
I have one question and that is about free scratchcards which I want to get in the habit of checking everyday. Do you use Virgin and takeabreak? I have registered for both but can't seem to access the free scratchcard on takeabreak - I click on the icons and they don't appear to take me anywhere. Do you have to deposit first?
On virgin I deposited £20 and now have £21 in the bonus account too. I went to the site and registered through quidco. What do I do here to avoid losing the money and accessing the free scratchcards on Virgin? I have taken notes on all your old diaries but don't seem to have this specific info. but may well have missed it so apologies for asking a question that has already been answered many times. I won't hijack your thread anymore!;)0 -

hijack away, honory - it is always nice when people come out of lurkdom!!
With takeabreak, I think I deposited first. Then went into the bingo room that is on the far left hand page of the screen. Then in the top left quarter of the screen will be some icons including "lucky break" I think - that is your free scratchcard and you should be able to access it.
With any of these bingo type sites, you will be given a "bonus" of £10 or so - forget that. You will only be able to withdraw that if you actually spend your initial deposit - the whole idea of doing the scratchcards is to make money, not spend it, so don't look at the bonus amount at all - you won't get it, but neither will you lose any of your own money (which is most important!).
So, on virgin, log in, and go to the tab on the top menu that says "instant win" which will bring you up a screen with various scratchcard games - make sure you go for the "daily free scratch" one - but be careful, these sites move the icon around and have a couple with similar pictures so you might click on a "pay" game by mistake if you are not on the ball!
When you have played for a few days, request a withdrawal for your initial deposit amount. They will tell you that you will lose your bonus if you continue - that is fine. As I said above, the idea is not to lose any of your own money and if you want to play the bonus through, you have to lose your own money first, so no point!
Hope that helps!!
Now, work out a squares grid for your £33000 loan, and make yourself a chart and get colouring in every time you save £50 towards the loan.....:DSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. BAAAARRRRRRRRRRKING er insanely so0 -
Thanks so much for the info. and very good advice - I will wait until payout allows me to withdraw all my earnings without playing and touching my initial deposit. I won 0.35p in total but as we all say - every little helps;)
Now I have done the 1st job on the list I'm off to list on ebay which I absolutely hate - it is such a chore in my opinion! However one thing I have also picked up from your thread Hypno is that all free money adds up - I transferred £305 in ebay, quidco and amazon last month:j. That's amazing as usually that money would just get subsumed into our ordinary finances and I would have just spent it without anything good coming from it in terms of debt repayment. I really have soaked up all the MSE tips that you have discussed on this thread and thank you all so much:T
Just got to get my excel skills sharpened!;)0 -
