skint - I use the "extra" money to pay off the debt....I really really want rid of it, I only really (one really, not two!) want new clothes and a bit of pampering!

beanie - my spending diary is here

ahhh I was thinking you meant for the kids too - my DS seems to shoot up a couple more inches each month. I have been comping galore so surely it must be my turn to win £10K in M&S vouchers soon?

I generally only buy school uniform and real basics now for my two - they earn enough from paper rounds and stuff to buy their own clothes now. DD is Queen of making amazing outfits based on primark and market stall clothes. DS won some Trespass vouchers in ski comp and bought some really nice clothes from there with them.

Also, our current student is a real clothes horse and she passes plenty of fab clothes down to DD - some she will have to grow into, but some are perfect now. Most of our students have left clothes behind rather than pay excess luggage fees, which we never complain about ;)

Anything else is generally hand me downs which my two are quite happy with.

I would like new work clothes and a new pair of jeans - nothing too silly, but my last jeans were bought 7 years ago

I'm in between cuts.......it is about a year since I had mine done, but I am hoping to get a cheap cut at the end of June.....I long for the full salon experience with qualified hairdressers and a cup of coffee! Or somewhere I can make a proper appointment not just "turn up and wait".....

.....followed by lunch with a friend, and a nice massage and manicure, of course!

Hypno said: "I think that part of my problem today has been that I have just about thought I am more or less in control of the finances, but the "spending diary" is showing that it is more "less" than "more" in control!"

KC is saying: ooh, I've got an idea here, in a glass half full kind of way.... you're showing a lot more "discretionary" spending than you thought you had, and thats got you down. But, truth is, what it actually means is you've got leeway in your spending! You don't want to cut absolutely all of the discretionary stuff, but some you do - and obviously, thats what gets thrown at the debt. Its not painless, but its there.

    Hope you feel better, Hypno.

It's grey and wet again today - feels a long way removed from summer! I am sure that doesn't help my mood!

Anyway, that's the ups and downs of MSE life I suppose, I just have to get on with it, as we all do.

Hope you all have a good day x

Grey, wet and chilly here too - DS had to be at work at 6.30 so DH dropped him off. Still had to get up though!

One day we will all have enough to do what we want - its just the slog of getting there thats difficult at times!

Hope you have a cheeryer day today
