My personal experience of GB was not good
They don't pay expenses/fee separately. RE for eg pays x towards your purchase and y (around £5) as a fee. GB paid sums such as "£8 toward your meal", if you spent less that was money for you, but for me it could only be viewed as free food, not earnings. (didn't suit me, my lot were happy with HM food which was cheaper anyway.)
Then they have a very strict time schedule (8 hours, instead of RE's 24) and for my first assignment the client had some questions. I got this e-mail:
Could you explain why you thought the lights and ceiling vent and exhaust fans were dirty?
Could you also explain why you thought the front counter was dirty or cluttered?
In what respect were the team uniforms dirty?
Due to the urgency of the matter, please reply within 12 hours
some 17 days after the assignment  And I was away :eek: so they got an out-of-office reply. Needless to say I didn't get paid.
I like RE and GR better anyway.0 -
Gapbuster aren't my favourite atm either I did lots of a certain type of shop for them (well about 12 I think over an 8 month period, over half of them were at their request - i.e. pleading phonecalls) and then suddenly get an email - when I have 2 lined up a few weeks later - to say I can no longer do these jobs as the client doesn't want people who've done them lots before (and know what they're doing etc etc...) It was a really easy questionnaire, had a branch very near my house and the free meals came in handy too.... TNS are my favourite by far but haven't done that many Mystery shops recently - I needed a break from trying to fit my weekends around them.
Hypno I've taken a leaf out of your book and joined the grocery challenge for the first time in ages. I've loved posting on the 100 day challenge and keeping track of things so hoping this one goes as well too.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

ATB - you can go on a free short 1/2 day course run by HMRC to find out about the self employment tax basics. I've been and it was very informative - their phoneline is helpful too. Have a look on their website for some PDFs as well.Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
