Hi babyhead - I wouldn't have walked it, if the weather had been horrid! But it was a lovely evening, and I live out in the country, so walking away from the city, through the villages and along the lanes was really quite a nice way to wind down......If I didn't have the children to run around/cook dinner for etc, I would happily take my walking shoes and walk it more often.....but that would mean that I wouldn't be home until 8ish which wouldn't work in our house! Perhaps I can do it in the summer holidays......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Another one very impressed with all your walking here, I have to say I miss not being able to walk to work anymore, but then I think of my lovely house and garden, which we could never have afforded in the city, had to move to a neighbouring town for that.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Good morning Hypno & co, what a lovely day! Have done seed planting this morning (French beans, carrots, onions, beetroot) and did a real Scrooge thing - bought a pot of basil from Aldis yesterday, and split it between three pots this morning to make (hopefully) plentiful supplies of fresh basil for the kitchen. This was a tip I got from a new book I bought the other day, The New English Kitchen by Rose Prince. (I only paid £3.99 for it at a discount bookshop). It teaches you how to shop better and make good quality ingredients go further, even giving examples on how to make several meals out of a joint of meat, including soups, and gives you the typical cost per head of each meal. As I am trying to tighten up my grocery spending I need all the help I can get, particularly as my son is going through a hollow legs phase.
Hope you all have a productive day in whatever you do (get back to the ironing board, woman!).One life - your life - live it!0 -

Thanks for the order, shaun, but I am afraid I will have to disobey, as I have got to go straight to the ski club to collect the kids from race training......then dinner needs thinking about.....
Nargleblast - that looks like a good book, might hunt it down in the bargain bookshops over the next few weeks....I am sure it can recoup its costs fairly quickly!
The sun is still shining here too - but I can't see much of it from my cubbyhole.....might go for a walk round the block at lunchtime......although will leave my purse in the office so I can't be tempted to spend any money!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. But getting a taxi would have ruined my NSD......and I would have had to declare it on my spending diary.......plus I didn't have enough in my purse for a cab.
So, shanks' pony it was!savingholmes - no break between debt and mortgage because the MFiT challenge includes my secured loan, which is still part of my DFW journey, really......so no plans to let up just yet
My bigger temptation currently is a new / newer car! My current car is Y reg and is running but slightly embarassing! It has child bike scrapes down the side of my car etc... I think the suspension is shot and needs hundreds of pounds spending on it... I'm just hoping it doesn't all go wrong with a big bang - and am wondering whether to try trading it in while it is still running ok!?
