Brilliant news about your bonus hypno...i'll be logging in tomorrow to see you in your 20s! Yeahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know what you mean about having those moments where you think about what you could have spent the money on. We've paid £1800 off the 0% card since March and when I start thinking what I could have spent that money on.....a brolly, coat that's waterproof, shoes that don't leak...what luxuries:rotfl:xx0

Can I fourth (or fifth?) what Pania said too. There can't be a more deserving MSE'er to get a nice fat bonus. Hope it's a big one anyway.
I too am looking forward to seeing your total drop tomorrow. have you worked out if it'll now be less than 10 more paydays or are you planning on relaxing the budget a little? verbatim, I will do a couple of revised budgets over the bank holiday weekend.....will be armed with pad, paper, calculator, snowball, and martin's budget planner.......
Although I don't want to take my foot off the gas, I am more aware than ever that "real life" doesn't always go according to plan. 2 divisions of the "parent company" that OH work for are closing down completely at the end of the month......that is quite close to home, really.....and of course, when we are all relying on the "free money" such as scratchcards, mystery shopping, quidco etc to make the additional overpayments - if that ceases or even just eases up, it makes a difference to how quickly we can throw the extra money at the debt.
So, on that basis, I really do need to make sure that:- we have a little in savings as emergency - car repairs etc
- we can muddle through without any more stress than is necessary if OH loses either his main job, or his second job, or worst case scenario, both jobs.
- I can get DD to China, and DS off skiing.....
- We can afford to eat.
Then a "full on" plan - pretty much as it has been for the last two years, throwing as much as I can at it (skiing allowing) to see if I can get the debt gone within the original timeframe or sooner (before Easter next year).
And a couple of "in between" ones in case "extras" ease off, or I get bored with mystery shopping, or just can't be bothered!
Of course, the plan is to go at it "full on" still.....there is still a long way to go, but I would like to at least get the unsecured stuff gone - the secured loan is linked to the mortgage so is at a low rate, and if we are planning to move anyway, it would get sorted at that point, and is only £70 month anyway, so not going to make a huge day to day difference. Perhaps I will take my foot off the gas at that point, being a reasonable compromise.
Next year's bonus.....should we get one (never ever ever rely on a bonus!)......well, I might get my hair done.......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
