I think her generalisation about their cover being the same could be miss leading to some consumers as some of their plans offer broadly the same cover but people may buy one of their basic policies without realising any limitations

Also re her comment; - "This cover is available for vehicles aged new to 16 years old... which some customers find offers good value for older but reliable vehicles (you'll generally pay much more than £30.25 for vehicles over 5 years old)"

Autoaid have no excess and AFAIK there is no age limit on the vehicles, and the cost is £37. (driver and legal spouse for same cover), as against their £58. for; -"The £58.00 policy provides nationwide cover, has nil excess, and as a 'personal' based product covers you as a driver or passenger of any car, bike or small van."

Sarah/Rescuemycars post is a good example of why MSE has rules on promoting your own company.

The post is slightly biased and is all about promoting her employer.

Keep the adverts out of MSE and give unbiased help to other MSE users for no other reason than you want to help them, not to make your own employer money
  • Oh dear, not off to a good start am I!? I'm really sorry, I missed the note regarding the use of domain names within the username (I've just had another look, and can see it clearly states such). Is there any way I can change this? I thought I was doing right/being honest by highlighting that it was the brand replying.

Please be assured that I'm here with good intentions. I just want to get assist MSE users with any breakdown related questions, and I felt getting involved in any outstanding threads containing our brand would be a good place to start (which is why I made several posts yesterday after joining, jeannieblue). I'm not trying to drum up business by posting on here; I'm just giving a view on things from the other side of the fence.

Having said that, I can see how my posts could be misconstrued as adverts/promotion - and so I'll ommit any telephone numbers/prompts to call for assistance in future.

dacouch; I used the word 'comparable' rather than 'same' - and RMC's cover is comparable to the likes of AA/RAC etc. I don't see how this is missleading. I'd always suggest that a customer reviews each set of providers/products wording before purchasing to ensure that the policy suits their individal needs.

derrick; I think you're correct in respect of AutoAid's open age banding. RMCs personal products work in the same way. However, as I'm sure you're aware - AutoAid is PayReclaim whilst RMC is Automatic service (as Martin's guide refers to it). Again - the choice is of course up to the individual.

savemoney; why do we need specific permission to post? who do I speak to about this please?

    Many thanks

Yes RescueMyCar needs permission to post and arent allowed to advertise nor have a username as domain name, duly reported to abuse

I've just emailed MSE requesting permission to represent company and that our username be reformatted (although the username is our brand, as well as our domain - so not sure if that's treated differently)
    Thanks again for advice

Yes it is pay and claim, but yours has a £40. excess each time, so call you out twice in a year and the cost is £138. ! More than the "big" outfits who don't charge an excess, and as it has to be paid at the road side, might not be any different than Autoaid! Why do you need an excess? It is like a hidden premium cost, making the policy a lot more than the headline price!

Think I will stay with Autoaid.

I emailed abuse because if a company wants to posts on here which is encouraged it needs to be verified obviously to protect users and also your company so there is no misinformation etc

Looks like they have not done anything as of yet as it was 2 days ago when I did

  • jeannieblue/savemoney; I've requested permission to post on these message boards - after being advised that such permission is required. I haven't had a response yet, I guess the guys at MSE are busy - but I'm sure they'll get to my email eventually and then you can all sleep easy :)

Please be assured (as I pointed out in my previous post!) that I'm here with good intentions. I'm here to answer questions about breakdown cover - providing 'an insiders view' on things. I felt that replying to any outstanding questions relating to RMC would be a good place to start... but I'm happy to answer any general breakdown questions. (and get involved in general breakdown related topics)

    Hi Derrick.

Sounds like you're happy with Autoaid, great - I'm not here to tout for your business, I'm just answering questions.

You're not giving a fair account of the RMC product by stating that £40 excess applies to every claim. This £40 excess only applies to a single 'budget' product that is sold via Moneysupermarket and is vehicle based. All of RMC's other products are 'excess free' - including the personal product I mentioned in an earlier post.

Surely this post is benefical to the MSE community? Otherwise you'd have everyone thinking that all of RMC's products contained a £40 excess????

    Thanks
