my mum could really have made use of one of these, think it's disgusting that £10 profit is more important than someone's health.
:Sometime I try to be NORMAL. . . But it gets boring so I go back to being me. . .

Im type 1 diabetic and im disgusted that you're selling this on ebay. Words just fail me!
Me too, my uncle has diabetes & could make use of the one which you're selling. Everyone has debts, just because you're a student doesn't give you any given right to put your money before someone's genuine wish for one. Disgusting that you're bragging about it too.

Most probably she's referring to the test strips, which are required to test the blood. They're quite expensive, which is the main reason that the company is giving them away - they make their money off the strips, rather than on the actual device. The strips are a free prescription to people with diabetes, but the NHS still has to pay for them, it's in the company's interest to switch people to their brand of meter.

The chip is in the box with the test strips. The 3-digit number on the chip has to match the number on the pot of strips (it will do, just make sure to change it when you open a new pot of strips).

Anyone who is getting this as a freebie won't get much use out of it unless they want to buy the test strips or can get them on prescription - it comes with a pot of 10 test strips.

*I am type 1 diabetic, and i've had one of these for a few months.
  • Doesn't your diabetes clinic give the machines away for free anyway? The manufacturers give them to diabetes clinics for free as they make the money from the test strips anyway.

My Partner has never had to pay for a machine and gets a new one if she needs it from the clinic.

    Just a thought

My husband was diagnosed as diabetic and he was given a free blood monitor by our practice nurse.

I am type 2 using insulin and testing regularly and in 13 years have never had to pay for a blood glucose monitor. Please do not claim until you have asked your clinic or doctor if you really need one. It is disgraceful that these are claimed then sold on e bay.
