I think your boyfriend is the one you ought to be having the conversation with...
You can't cancel the contract even if the phone is lost, you still have to pay the monthly charge for as long as you signed up for (you don't say if it's 12 months, 18 months?) That's what you signed up for. Losing or damaging the phone does not terminate your contract. Did you not have any insurance on the phones?
If his phone is still abroad somewhere you really need to get that SIM blocked and the phone reported as stolen/missing, because otherwise you could not only be paying the monthly call charges, but be hit for any roaming costs if it's used abroad. If you reported it lost in Feb, then they may have blocked it (is this what you are saying?), but they will still bill you £35 per month until the contract ends.
You could try asking 3 if they can reduce your monthly charges to a cheaper tarrif, they're not obliged to do this but you've nothing to lose.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

they tell u if you have a problem with yor prone or contract call them they will be there to help. when you call is different story. dont get me wrong i like them their cheap tarif staff but the service is very poor. i they dont know how to solve it.0 -
OK, they have done what you asked-to block the other SIM, so you cannot be charged more than the contract rate on the other phone. What else do you expect them to do?
They won't cancel the second contract just because you say you cannot afford it any more, you signed up to £35 (x2) a month and now you want to break that contract. Why is that 3's fault? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
You can break the contract if you wish, but 3 have the right to charge you for the remainder of the contract so will be quite expensive to end it early.
You need to write to them and give 30 days notice that you want to cancel the contract and they will then send you a final bill.BR 31/03/2009AD 31/03/2010 (hopefully)BSC number 257Barclays Cash Card Account with Connect Debit CardMycashplus card0 -
It's pointless to end it early because they will charge you (now) the equivalent of what you would have paid up until the contract ends. Better if you are stretched for cash to pay it off over the remaining contract period.
If you can get the phone back, why don't you sell it on SIM-free on eBay (I assume we are talking about an expensive phone here)-however you won't be able to do this if it has been IMEI-blocked by 3 (in which case the phone will be useless). No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
