Sky have on air said that IMF say -4.1% this year, -0.4% next year, for growth...

...already rubbishing the latest set of unrealistic forecasts from the Chancellor.

Whilst I'm more inclined they are likely to be correct due to lack of VI lets not pretend they know it all. Theyve changed their tune 3? times in the last 6 months.

I see Darling has bottled it by merely stating they will make £15b 'efficiency savings' - whatever the heck that means.

He should be saying, "We'll make £15b savings THIS year alone by cutting pointless roles (like smoking cessation assistants), cutting public sector pensions, cutting expenses at Wesminster and cutting waste by getting tid of quangos".

But no, we get 'efficiency savings' - which is what you bget when you switch your lightbulbs over to low energy bulbs and buy a draft excluder. We needed much more than that.

Oh, and 2p a litre from September (on top of the 2p just done in April) and then a further 1p each year thereafter. As we live on an island and import our foos, materials, etc then fuel increases just increases costs for everyone - retailers, manufacturers and citizens alike.
Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.

Yes, whilst Darling's forecast looks extremely optimistic, the IMF's record on accurate forecasting is worse than his is.....

What, ALL Quangos? You want to get rid of Job Centre Plus? The Courts Service? The Crown Prosecution Service? The Highways Agency? The Met Office? OFSTED?

I can see the argument on reducing the numbers. but to make stupid statements like "lets get rid of Quangos" suggests that you have no idea what a Quango is.

I have no idea what a quango is either but lets get rid of these lot.

I would suggest the above are not Quangos but governments departments and companies, The QUA stands for Quasi Autonomous and the above could not be considered in any way autonomous.

In his second Budget as Chancellor, Mr Darling conceded that net public borrowing is to hit £175 billion this year and national debt will reach almost 80 per cent of GDP within five years.
