Budget 2009

Interesting figures and charts on the BBC to give a backdrop to this weeks budget;
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8002618.stm

Has anyone factored into the figures the fact that the Chancellor, and therefore the PBR, was operating on what have proven to be an inaccurate set of forecasts?
So whether policies have or have not been effective is perhaps not the problem, more likely that the policies were aimed at solving a different extent of problem...so by definition cannot work as effectively as they need(ed) to...
And so this Budget will be playing catch-up, again. If only they are prepared to admit how bad it really has been/will be, they might start apply answers that fit the problem.
Like cutting back spending, for example.

all forecasts have always proven to be inaccurate especially as at any given time there are at least 10-11 'respectable' forecast (IFS, ITEM, IMF etc etc) which are all different.0

Ah well I will be ok on the shoes then.......:DWe made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Pretty much agree with the above, I'd also expect the annual ISA allowance to be increased to £10,000.
VAT at 20% sometime in 2010, frozen for now. Fuel duty up, personal allowances on tax up. Benefits and various tax credits up, wouldn't like to say how much by though.
Can't think of anything else for now.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

The ISA thing will go up but by only a grand or two. They wont want to shock people into thinking they need money in the banks after the money they have fronted already.
Agree with your VAT but that wont go above 17.5% until after the election (if they win).
Labour are going to be buying votes. Pensioners & unemployment benefit are a definate up.Not Again0 -
