Sorry not been on today. DH and I went out for a walk this morning (which was lovely with lots of gorgeous spring blooms but the climb back up to the car was awful!)and then I was worn out and slept, then had to go out and felt really really sick but wasn’t sick, then came home and lay down and now feel a bit better but have a headache. It’s been a nice/horrid/nice/horrid day today! Not managed any flying which is annoying but plan to do lots tomorrow, as I will have two lists to do. Eeek!

congratulations to Flowers DD on the uni course! That’s fab!

Big hugs Nicki and Mozzy, you sound really ill

Buggalugs, sorry you have no water, what happened? Oh great, it’s back on now!

Witchypoo, hope your new cooker is fab!

Hugs Hex on the chicken. I was going to ask a really callous question, but have rephrased it to: what are you going to do with her now?

Emily, I think it’s cos if you have a day off every Monday for example and can do a room really thoroughly, it means you don’t always clean the LR really well and the others really badly the rest of the week! At least every 5 weeks each room is done well! I’m just guessing that’s the reason tho.

    Hugs Gingernut

Sarah, it sounds like you had a lovely day in the park!

Nice you’ve been busy Lady Liberty but be careful and take it easy if you are tired!

Natty, I think I missed how your ears got full of water, but hugs and I hope they are better soon. I don’t remember writing anything about looking behind my sofa, but Toots definitely isn’t there!

FFP, hugs about SS going so soon. How’s your walking been going? I went out with DH today to Winkworth Arboretum which is built on a hill, with the car park at the top. It’s lovely all the way down, really beautiful and I enjoyed it a lot. I really wanted to die on the way up, or use a ski lift! I’d forgotten how steep the hill is! I got aches in places I didn’t know you could ache! (even my bum hurt but only on one cheek. Sorry, TMI!

Mudbath, mmmm Ben and Jerry’s! What flavour?

Hugs GnB, hope you feel better after your nap

    Hugs Embb

Hugs Poohbear’s DS that sounds really painful. I also know how to fix the loo seat: get a manly beast to do it for you. Could you send me the recipe for the tuna pasta bake please?

Big hugs Phil, we have missed you so much and wondering how you are. Hope to see you back more often when ever you can post.

Jill, glad you had such a great time on Saturday and hope your night out with DH was lovely tonight

I've only caught up to page 18!

    Hiya
You've all been busy! I'm not trying to do the lists this week. Lots to sort out so just doing general tidying, cleaning and sorting to keep life going.

Tootles - great to hear you're over half way with your treatment. Massive hugs darling xx

LL - the twinges are lovely aren't they. I don't go many but when I do too much...ouch!

I'm about to start researching for my dad stuff for if he can't see again. I'm going to start with RNIB (is that the right letters or is is that the bird one!!!) but if anyone has any sites they know of i'd appreciate it. The problem is my dad is rather intellectual so your average talking book wouldn't appeal to him! He's more your rare microscopic organism living on a dead squirrel kind of book person - I kid you not...this is going to be difficult!:rotfl:
    Hi ho!

Have you tried Audible? I have found quite a lot of good books on there, and you get three on a free trial I think. I found them via Quidco and have stayed as a member as they have an excellent comedy section.

If your dad likes Radio 4 comedy etc he might be happy. I don't go much beyond that or Terry Pratchett tbh, but it might be worth a look.

My dad helps out with Talking Newspaper in his part of the world (Up in the [strike]Frozen North[/strike] Highlands of Scotland) which is where local volunteers read the area newspaper for people who are partially sighted/blind. My dad being a show-off he does this in English and Gaelic :D Your local council would have information about this sort of initiative.

Don't think I have a lot else to offer in this regard, but hope it's of use.

Get well wishes to your Dad, and hugs of support to you.

I'm trying to sort out the best deal for me to switch me and DD to O2 as everyone else in both families (as in ex and his family included) are on O2, whereas DD and I are on Virgin. Also realised that the other people who I text alot are also on O2 so it would make sense to switch. Just trying to work out how much I spend on average on my phone to work out whether its worth switching to a contract or PAYG one... DD will be on the cheapest PAYG though as she only really uses it for texting family where as I am constantly texting and using the net :o:rotfl: Oh and I do make the occasional phone call, only 12 since Christmas like, but still they've all been to landlines or O2 numbers :rotfl:

    Hugs Lil_me for DS

Congratulations to Soappie’s sister and her OH

Hello Miss A, enjoy your books! Your spelling will be wonderful!

Carol, really glad you and BF have got things sorted out. Don’t get stressed if he doesn’t do things as well as you would like, just enjoy the fact that he is trying and wants to help you. xx

Toots, you are over halfway there now! Well done!

Valli, enjoy your spud day. Funnily enough I had a spud today for the first time in ages. DH had chips but I’m fed up with chips all the time, they are so fattening. He hates jacket potatos, but I like them

Mudbath, would be a good idea to get your Dad’s GP to refer him to an Occupational Therapist as they will be able to provide all sorts of equipment to make his life easier, and they might have some ideas of other resources he can tap into

Congratulations MrsMortenharket, so glad Oliver has arrived safely! Hugs to you both and forget the flying for a while til you feel up to it

Gingernut, believe me all wives would be impressed that a husband would do some washing! I wish mine would!

    I've caught up! :j

I plan to do mucho flying tomorrow so am off to bed now. Still feel a bit sick and headachey, hoping a good night's sleep will cure it.

    Night night xx

Spoke to Sis on the phone this evening and I can stay overnight on her engagement 'at home' weekend so that's good. I shall go! DD has said she'll come up in the car with me but will catch a train home on the Saturday. DS and DiL need to discuss.

They have also set a date for August. They have managed to book a church wedding (even though they are both divorced). Bridegroom is saying, at the moment, that he only wants them and their respective children. I am going to work on [STRIKE]him[/STRIKE] that.

I've said to Sis that the least they should have is siblings and his Mum as well! I've also pointed out she needs at least one bridesmaid to hold her bouquet whilst the vicar is doing the biz and one family gentleman to walk her up the aisle to give her away....

I am also working on her hen night. I LURVE planning this sort of thing :D

    Wow we're busy today...

Miss A - I'm jealous! I want a pirate ship :o Hope you enjoy your spelling books and have a nice rest of the week at school!

Rose - thanks, I'm trying. I'm just so particular about some parts of cleaning (like vacuuming everywhere and not just where you can reach without moving any furniture.. who would have thought it?) but I am really happy that he's making an effort.

MrsMH - huge congratulations on the new baby! Enjoy yourself!

Valli - is it really dense (or just really northern) that I thought Valliland was in the south? I should admit that til moving to Manc I thought anywhere South of Middlesborough is south.

Meant to post list but forgot new bit so will do tomorrow. Night xxxxx

    Hi,
Hope everyone's well. Mudbath, I've not been reading through some of the thread properly but I gather your dad is having some problems with his eyesight? Has he been registered blind or partially sighted? If so here's a few tips as DH is registered blind:
Try & get him an appointment at the low vision clinic at the hospital (the person who registers him will not automatically do this). Then he can be given an eye test to make the best of any remaining sight. The tester may give him special magnifying glasses
If you contact social services a vison rehabilitation officer will be able to visit him & give advice
He should be eligible for a free bus pass. I'm not sure about a blue badge but it's worth enquiring. He will be also entitled to certain discounts on rail travel
The local library may do a good range of large print books, audio cassettes & cd's. Our local library also send DH the local paper on audio casette, free of charge. There is also a charity called Calibre which provide free audio cassetes. Their number is 01926432339. when you register you fill out a survey, stating what you like to read, which you can change at any time
As Soappie said before, RNIB is very helpful. There is another charity called Action for Blind People which is good. There may also be a local charity near you for people with sight loss.
Certain television companies & freeview boxes can provide your dad wilth audio description. This describes what is going on in the background of a programme when no one is talking. Unfortunately, it's only available on about 10% of programmes.
Sorry I've not been able to provide more contact details but if you search online you should be able to find them. People like the vision rehabilatation officer should tell you this stuff but not always. I had to make all the arrangements for the low vision clinic appointment myself. Feel free to send me a pm

Carol22 well technically Valliland is in the East Midlands - so north to Flower, Soappie, Greenbee, kazwookie etc etc but south (obviously) to you, Nicki, Toots, GnB, embb, Triker and Her Royal and Illustrious Highness et al BUT I was transplanted and am a Lancashire Lassie by birth so count myself as well and truly northern
    HTH

Spuds bought, scrubbed and in the car so I don't forget them LOL

Party and flashy wedding vibes Soappie - if they are going to the bother of persuading a church to let them marry in it they might as well show off to the whole family (hint hint)

Well spotted Emily - re Mudder's dad your situation had slipped my mind...but healing vibes and thoughts for him still...
