I have read that a used tumbledryer sheet will reduce static.

Oooooh I dunno, they're not mine so unable to experiment but that sounds like it could keep the dust at bay, also furniture polish reduces static too apparently, but must be applied after cleaning.

Offskis to clean the loo :D

3tabbycats ~ if it is of any use to you, I could copy the list and paste it into an email and email it to you, pm me your email address.

Natty ~ I have heard of excuses to get out of ironing, but breaking the iron is a new one on me.

AnWMum ~ was going to send you a pm wishing you luck on the ringing, but your box is full, so here will have to do instead.!!

Glad the rest of you all seem well.

    Ironing boards

How long has your current ironing board been with you?

Mine is about 8 to 10 years old at a guess :o and it has started for what ever reason to wobble, the iron fell off yesterday, and started hissing steam up at me, so is 8 to 10 years a good life span for a board??

And what is the best modern ironing board to buy? as I guess they have changed a lot since I bought this last one.

I have all the major shops in Milton Keynes to go shopping in to find a new one, but I don't have mega bucks to spend on one, so I thought about £20 to £30, does that seem about right?

During the time my old one has been with me, it has had numerous covers! the current one has farm yard animals on it, so I will take it off and save till the new one needs replacing.

Morning all! I’m going to get started on my chores soon, just catching up with the thread first.

Unfortunately our car radiator has got a hole in it. DH has tried Radweld, but it seems the hole is too big. It took him ages to get home yesterday afternoon as he had to keep stopping to pour water on the engine to cool it down! It’s such a pain not having the car as we live so far from the town! We aren’t exactly in the centre of the village either! It’s too far to walk from here to the shop or doctor’s etc. We are going to have to share the truck which will be interesting! DH is at work today. He was so stressed last night, I’ve never seen him like that. I’m glad I pushed him to tell me what was wrong, I could tell he wasn’t right but he bottles everything up. I was very gentle and eventually he admitted how he was feeling. He said he works so hard juggling every thing and then something else goes wrong. We will get through it, we are a team, as long as we stick together we can get through anything. Somehow we will find the money for the car. Good job I haven’t got work this week, who knows how we will manage next week if I have to work! We will have to cut the truck in two!

Big hugs Domino Sue to your sister. It’s so great that you want to be there for her, that’s really important and will help her. The main thing is to try to boost her confidence, give her lots of praise when she tells you she’s done something, even if to you it seems like an easy thing to have achieved IYSWIM! Try not to worry too much about her tho as it will drain you too much

Hugs Mummyof5, we are here for you

Well done Nicki on the dying, that sounds great!

Irie, hope all goes well with your DS with his appointments and grummits and adenoids

Natty, that’s a good thing! Now you won’t have to do any ironing ever again! I never iron anything unless I really really can’t get away with it which is very rare! ETA: just seen you got a new one.

Flying-Fresian, well done with your cooking!

Poor Sexymouse, what a horrible night for you. My friend with hayfever says that she has to take her tablet every day and then it builds up in her system and makes a constant barrier against the pollen

AnW’s hope the funeral goes well xx

Welcome Buggalugs and Jackie and Jinky

Gertie welcome back. The person with a drink problem can get help from their GP and from AA

Hi Ella, how’s the new house?

FFP, I'm definately going to be doing some walking today, going to walk towards the local shop and see how close to it I can get. Otherwise I won't be able to have any chocolate as I've run out! Eeek! :rotfl:

OK, time to get on with my flying. HHC AT 10:35 ANYONE?

Morning, posting first and reading after.

It's a gorgeous day, one load of washing out on the line.

Dog has been out and I've cut back a thorny shrub in the front garden that is right by the path. It was planted before we moved in (so about 40 years old), we tried to take it out once but couldn't get the root out and it grew back better than ever. So now I just hack it back so nobody gets scratched.

Monday is kitchen day for me so I've done all that thoroughly, including the oven, all the appliances. I did the cupboards and drawers over the last two weeks so they are OK.

Damp wiped the living room and all the computer desk. Vacuumed right through downstairs and changed the bag and filter in the vacuum.

Then I sat in the back garden with the dog and read the paper (I read the paper, she mostly slept....). Lovely.

I'll ask for my star on kitchen day Toots :) Hope your treatment goes well today.

Off to catch up a bit.
