Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!
I'm getting back ache from sitting at my laptop for so long - I hadn't realised how badly I needed the break at the weekend! I haven't managed to get to the pool or the gym today, which I know would have made me feel better.
I also feel bad about missing the party my parents are having to introduce by brother's fiancee to all the family and local friends who won't be going to the wedding, but I know I'd find it difficult to be positive and cope with all those people.
Anyway, I've manage to get quite a bit of work done. I have a spreadsheet with over a thousand items in it that needs working on (although there are only 869 unique entries, and I'm beginning to suspect that although they are all currently live some of them should probably be retired!), and I just need to do enough work on it to make sure we can blag our way through the next meeting on Monday morning!
I'm also redoing my objectives, having found last year's internal audit report... I think I need to pay much more attention to IA than I normally do, as this should support what I'm trying to do! At least if anyone wants to question why I am prioritising the way I am, I can point them in the correct direction now I've relocated the reportI just need to check whether I should be issuing it to my new boss and his boss 'for information', or whether I should wait...!
B*gger... HR systems are still down. It says they should be back up at 3.30 today... so either it hasn't gone to plan, or they got the dates wrong!0 -
Hello all
I'm back from the London meet and in the midst of cooking a roast for the inlaws. We had a lovely time, everyone is as lovely as I expected. We did a wiggly walk through the back streets and finally arrived at St Katharine dock where we ate in cafe rouge. I had to rush off to sort out tonight's meal so I'm not sure what people did after!
Better get back to that dinner! The ladies from the meet will laugh as I correctly predicted DH would buy a 'taste the difference' chicken. It looks tiny to me but hopefully it will stretch!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Sounds like the meet went well. Greenbee are you suffering from the black dog at the mo?Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

Possibly... but only mildly... I know I need to get my act together and solve the problems. I do find it strange that I can talk to my colleagues and friends about the problems, but really can't deal with family. In fact, I can be feeling OK, and then have to call family and it really brings me down.
I definitely need to do some laundry tonight so that all my swimming and gym kit is sorted for next week. In fact I should probably try to go to the gym tomorrow as I'm sure a run will make me feel much better (I find running a great solution to stress).
I should probably go and do some food shopping now too... except I'll probably end up buying chips and icecream, and not what I actually need!0 -
***has visions of Rach and her DH pulling at that chicken like a tug of war***:rotfl:
Rach is your fly problem sorted?
(((hugs))) Greenbee perhaps it's the 'personal' link as opposed to the 'professional' thing there - your work persona will be different from how you are perceived in the family and it might be that if you get my drift...
Grateful been a fan for years (since Clocking Off actually) and I can get to him in only 3 degrees of separation! (If I'm working it out properly - me - link person - P.G.) Life on Mars was right up my street. Mind you so was The Grimleys...
If I'd have known then what I know now *sigh*
If embb can have a gorgeous fella (and hers is scrummy) so can I...
(her avatar that is not seen her OH :rotfl:)

Big hugs Greenbee
I know exactly what you mean about being able to talk to friends and colleagues OK but when it comes to family, it's far more difficult. I personally think it's because there's a lot of emotional involvement with families. You either feel subconciously you don't want to worry or else they'll all think you're a dreadful failure....
Spent the afternoon on my OU course which involved (amongst other things) taking photos of a bottle. I took dear old Gordon in his green jacket down the garden to the sunlight and took various shots of him amongst the shrubbery. Got a wet bum from sitting on some moss to get to Gordon's level but hey, I'm an artist!
I'm sooo glad I got stuck into the OU course that I delayed sorting out dinner. Just as I was about to get it started, the kids declared they are having take out pizza tonight. So, I've abandoned the beef stew idea and have taken a mackerel out of the freezer to defrost. I shall oven bake it with stuff I think.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

oooh Soappie you put it much better than me...I was trying to suggest that the family dynamic might well be impacting on how Greenbee feelsDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Big Hugs Lady Liberty hope the scans at the hospital have good results
Well done with your marathon challenge Sexymouse, you are doing really well. Don’t try to do everything, when you take on something extra like that something else has to go on hold for a while, so don’t worry. The challenge will soon be over and you can get back to normal! I'm going to watch about your sister later as DH is watching TV and the sound of two programmes at once would be too much
Lil_me how bizarre to steal a bus and then do its usual route! What a weird thing to do! Why not go mad and do another route!
Tag, hope DD and her class are better soon. It does sound like food poisoning if they are all ill at once, but perhaps it could be a virus as they are all in close proximity. Weird tho that they would all get it.
Hugs Moj2 hope you are better soon
Hi Oddjob, nice to see you. Am glad you had so much fun camping, enjoy your next trip away too!
Poohbear hope the wedding went well.
Penguin thanks for the link, I will have a proper read later
Hugs Mrs Dawn, good job you didn’t drop the ice cream, it would have landed on the foot of your other leg and then you wouldn’t know which leg to limp on!
Grateful, your news about OH sounds intriguing!
Pen Pen, nice to hear your DD’s so popular! It’s nice to have a busy social life and feel wanted
Well done Zippy on completing a list and getting a star! Not bad for a new flyer
Hugs Roxy
Hugs Michelle, glad you made it through work, sorry it was so tiring. I’m sure you will soon acclimatise
Greenbee, sounds like you need a great big squishy hug. Perhaps it’s cos your family worry about you more and you pick up on their worry and it pulls you down. Or maybe it’s what Soappie said which is a better suggestion! The thing is that if you can keep in touch that’s important as otherwise they will worry more, but only do so when you can cope with it.
I've had a lovely day today. Went to the British Museum and had a guided tour around the Assyria bit which showed how the artifacts they have found prove things the Bible says. It was really interesting.
And then we went on a boat trip down the Thames and went to the Greenwich Royal Observatory and saw the clocks made by John Harrison (who made it possible to travel at sea without getting lost!). It was really fab.
I felt so worried about it all day yesterday, and this morning all the way there was having to hold myself back from running screaming down the coach and breaking the door down to get off. I really didn't think I could cope with the day. But I did. I shouldn't be so pessamistic. I can do more than I think. DH and my friends were really kind and looked after me when I had a couple of wobbles, and they helped me to keep going and it was really fun in the end.
I'm really tired now tho! I think I'll watch BGT and then have an early night.
Please put pics of the London Meet, would love to see them. Sorry I couldn't break away to see you all but we had such a busy day and were taken up there by coach so couldn't stay behind or anything. xx"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

Toots - the course is potentially part of Plan B. But, I've just looked at the end of course assignment (early July) and the questions are gobbledegook - I have a lot of technical learning to do before then!
RoseP - Well done you :T Sounds like you had a lovely day and you managed to conquer your misgivings and fears brilliantly! :T. I envy you your guided tour of the British Museum.
I've been meaning to ask you - every June there's a big weekend convention held at a location in the park at the bottom of my garden by the JW. We always like them coming down because the sun always shines! Do you go to that, on the south coast? If you are going this year, you must let me know and we could perhaps meet up during one of the lunch breaks or something.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
