I am seriously considering moving now because I absolutely am sick to death of companies slapping on these high rate phone numbers to make money!
BB is very reliable. However, at £17.99/month for 2Mb/2Gb, it's not the cheapest and their BB fault reporting has now changed to 0845.
If you can reconnect to BT for free, do it now!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
On a customer services note, I have found that the phone co-op have been extremely helpful through their 0845 helpline - which has included technical support for internet services/broadband problems. I seem to have been able to get through to someone helpful very quickly and receive knowledgeable accurate advice. (I appreciate this isn't technically a moneysaving point, though, as they are not the cheapest, but some of this thread have shown a certain level of reliable customer service is worth it!).0

mobilegossip wrote:The Info posted is correct. 150 does not work on NTL only on TW . The first batch of customers to be made to use the new customer service numbers will be ex NTL customers.Ex Telewest customers will have that benefit? ,later as they amalagamate the two brands.
I agree that you can't dial 150 from your ntl line to contact customer services. I've been a cable customer since 1991. Yes it was possible to contact CS by using 150 to contact Videotron and later Cable & Wireless. But ntl had taken away the 150 facility when they acquired Cable & Wireless. Perhaps this was part of their wider strategy of extracting further revenue from their customers at a later date.
I'm still taking the stance that you should not trust the information from nthellworld. This is because the forum is heavily populated by ntl employees and some would not hesitate in providing misinformation in order to put ntl in a good light. Some of the mods are former ntl employees and it is not unusual for them to turn a blind eye. Sometimes posts are deleted or edited to suit the liking of ntl employees. It is not unusual for ntl employees to offer help in return to further their own courses or agenda.
I guess the best way to take action against the removal of the freephone number is by cancelling your service with ntl altogether. There are a number of good telecoms company which will save you on your telephony. Not to mentioned the infinite number of broadband companies. With Digital tv you can choose from freeview, Homechoice or Sky. This forum offers a wealth of advice on how to find the best deal.
Life is too short to worry about ntl with their sneaky ways in extracting revenue from you. So kick their !!!!!! and change supplier for a more stress free life.0 -

BT are better service wise, Sky better TV wise.
NTL are shoddy, used them once and never again.
They are that bad customer service wise...they know they can coin it in with this when you all try to complain.0 -
I think the main points to remember are :-
1) With a BT line there are a number of 3rd party telephony providers to choose from.
2) With a BT line there are a number of broadband suppliers to choose from.
3) With a NTL line you have far fewer 3rd party telephony providers.
4) With a NTL line you are at the mercy of their poor customer services.
5) With a NTL line there are a number of stealth charges such as itemised billing, call connection charges, and high mobile phone rates.
6) With a ntl line it may cost you dearly if you ever ask for an engineer to visit your home as often it means taking time off work resulting in loss of pay with no guarantee in whether the engineer will show.
7) With a ntl line you may find the company takes years to add new features to your telephone. In fact some people have waited eternity for a basic service such as caller display.mobilegossip wrote:NTL bought the domain https://www.nthellworld.com off the owner!!!

I'm afraid mobilegossip that is old news. Everyone else was referring to the other nthellworld site (the one ntl does not own).0
