The newer generation of phones are becoming more and more costly to unlock.

Soory, as post 1971. I don't know about this 3 sim and how it works, but may be worth a go.

no free codes for that model , pay 3 for the code or pay a shop/market stall to unlock it

Have unlock code for Nokia 5800 Music Express direct from T-mobile.
Get CODE ERROR after 2 tries.
Letter from T-mobile states that if I get CODE ERROR it is either already unlocked (which it isn't) or "cannot be unlocked".

Checked the phone using USB-Nokia software and keycode count was 2.
Reset this back to 0.

Anyone any idea what the problem is.

Well, code error does mean that either it's not locked to T.Mobile or to many codes have been entered and if what you are saying the only other option is to take it to a maket stall/pro unlocker for direct unlock. I would however contact T.Mobile again to clarify this.

Are you sure it's a 5200 if it'a an old phone. IMEI number please.

Sorry, it's a BB5 phone, only your network provider market stall/pro unlocker can help here as there are no free remote codes.
