I'm not sure I quite follow what you mean when you say it couldn't have gone as a small packet? That's standard terminology for airmail, so how did you send it then?

Yes I did sent it airmail

You can add a credit card to your existing paypal account. Click on edit profile, then credit/debit cards, then add card. You can then choose this card to pay for your next purchase.

The costs make it uneconomical and you gain nothing, that's why. My items go for less than £5 airmail postage charge adding another £4.50 onto that for airsure (on which I pay paypal percentage fees) makes it too expensive. International signed for is no good and so that limits me to a few countries that Airsure covers.I can't even limit my auctions to those countries.

For the small amount of losses I have I am fully covered with a COP. I'm probably jinxing myself but at the moment approx 80% of my business sales are going to Europe and I have not had a loss since last year. If that changes, and sometimes I start to have difficulty with a particular country, I pull back my stock levels for a while.

What awaful advice to give people.

I sell thousands of items overseas and only send ISF and Airsure and guess what? Since doing so I've not had a single claim for non reciept and as the buyer pays for the costs it's not cost me a single 1p in lost revenue.

I recently ran an experiment on two of my accounts, where I sold 30 identical items on each account. One batch costed for SFR/SD or ISF/Airsure and one batch 2nd or standard airmail.

The more expensive postal batch out sold the cheaper 3:2 and guess what else? I had two claims for non delivery on the cheapest.

You wouldn't chance your arm in the UK so why chance your arm overseas.

I don't use tracking in the UK either unless item goes for more than £39.

Where is the seller? The German PO is very good and letters sent from London on a Monday would get to me on the Wednesday but with packages it might take a bit longer

You could also send them this:

"Wie schon auf Englisch geschrieben, ich habe die Jacke am Mittwoch 15 April geschickt. Weil sie von England geschickt ist, es dauert natuerlich ein bisschen langer als 3 Tage Deutschland zu erreichen. Vielen dank fuer Ihr Geduld und Verstaendnis."

It's not perfect German but it will pass, it is polite and should get him off your back for a while.

"As I have already written to you in English, I have sent the jacket on Wednesday the 15th of April. Because it's being sent from England, it will of course take more than a few days to arrive in Germany. Thank you for your understanding and patience"

I still can't work out how buyer managed to open an Item not received claim within a week of paying, does the 7 day rule not apply to Germany?

Do you know I'm not sure it does. I was able to open a non-paying bidder dispute recently on the 6th day, but at least if it goes further than that you have to wait for 8 days before lodging a strike so this is good.

I hope it gets sorted out soon for you asset. Good luck and if you need any more mails auf Deutsch I'll try my best. My German is far from perfect (bloody grammar) but I'm more than happy to help. Actually you might be better off sending all communication with this guy in English and German.
