funny you should say that, i have been, i did collect footy memorabilia, but am coming to the point when im running out of stuff to sell on there!
I do have a nice display cabinet, oak effect aluminium, lights, shelves (removable) if anyones interested! lol
seriously, i hate being in this situation, and have allpied for about 7 jobs in the last 3 months, and not one reply!
i cant see how the people who "dont want to work" can seriously survive!!!
7 job applications in three months is hardly anything, no wonder you havent found employment. If you're on income based JSA you must have been on JSA a good while. Perhaps its time to either put more effort in or get less fussy instead of asking for further ways to get the state to pay.0 -
WELL THAT HELPS!
typical, unfortunalty, 3 quarters of the jobs out there you need qualifications, ie, degrees experiance IN A CERTAIN FIELD, the others are either minimum wage, which i will be unable to live on or part time, i am on contribution based jobseekers, as like i said, i have been employed since i left school and this is my first time receiving benefits.
you have no right to judge me or my circumstances, that is out of order,
i try my hardest to find employment, i have filled out 7 applications,OF WHAT SUITABLE JOBS ARE OUT THERE! and wrote to various employers, as well as checking the job websites daily,
i am not after handouts for the rest of my life, just wanted some help while i am out of work. People like you with your blinkered attitude dont help
as i said in my previous posts, which you havent bother to read, i was forced into this situation, not by choice.
By your blinkered response i take it you would work for minimum wage, struggle like hell, or do soemthing you didnt want to just to pay bills, or are yopu one of the lucky ones which is either supported by a spouse or unaffected by the economical crisis
one last thing, i was a sub contractor for over 8 years, paid my tax on time, and paid my national insurance contributions every 3 months without fail for over 8 years.0 -
£120 tax a week for 8 years? You do the maths!0

Well that certainly got your back up!
I agree with DaisyFlower; 7 applications in 3 months isn't a lot. I was made redundant just over 5 weeks ago and I have applied for over double that and I still don't think that's really a lot. From that I have had only one interview (yesterday).
In response to your quoted comments (although not aimed at me); yes, I would work for minimum wage if it paid the bills. I would definitely do something I didn't want to just to pay the bills (I am actually quite shocked by that question). I am not one of the "lucky" ones, I also live on my own and know how hard it can be.
As time goes on, you will be expected to look at other jobs, not just the ones you are experienced in.
Personally, if a few weeks down the line I still don't have a job, I would be happy to clean toilets if it meant I had a job and a wage coming in.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Oooh I touched a nerve :rotfl:
Given a choice of working or claiming benefits, working would win every time for me. I am a firm believer in providing for myself/family rather than letting the state do it. Theres not really many jobs I wouldnt consider if it meant a way of putting food on the table.
Strange, your too proud to take a min wage or non desirable job yet quite happy to claim benefits and ask if there are any more you can have.0 -
i dont get this, im being ridiculed for something which is out of my control, i have to claim benefits or i will loose my house, simple! i didnt mean my post to sound so selfish, i was just enquiring to see if there was any other help with household bills, also seriously, you really cant seem to get this into your head, that i do not like my current situation, i never chose to be in this position, cant you understand that????
being too proud has nothing to do with taking a minimum wage at all, the reality is, it WONT PAY ALL THE BILLS.
what si your situation daisyflower, it is o easy to slate people on benefits isnt it when your not in the situation yourself, ive been unemployed for 3 bloody months, not all my life.
i said in another post daisy,
I get a job in a warehouse, i earn minimum wage, i then take home £170 after tax, i pay my £90 a week rent, the car tax, insurance, gas, electric, tv license, food, water rates, i am left with minus every week, do you not understand, i am not lazy, never have been, i will take any job IF it meets my needs, i am not choosy, picky, i will not go thorugh my one life on this earth struggling to make ends meet, as you are obviously so well off, i hope this situation never happens to you, becasue it is not nice.
as for the withhunt on people who claim benefits, it is enough for me to keep away from this site, i am honestly shocked by some peoples attitude towards this, i am struggling very very much, and the sooner i get back into work the better, so thank you for everyone replies on other posts i made, appreciate your help.0 -

yes, freakyogre exactly, i too WOULD work for a minimum wage IF it pays the bills, but reality is.... it doesnt, id pick dog !!!! up off the street if it paid the bills, BUT IT WONT.

To be fair marcmanu, people are only responding in the way they are due to the aggressive tone of your posts.
Being on benefits is not nice, and most of us know that through being in the same position. However, the fact is that you are more likely to get a new job whilst you are working, whatever the current job may be. The longer you are unemployed, the more difficult it will be to get any work.
If you need help with budgeting, perhaps you could post your SOA on the Debt Free Wanabee board? Alternatively, there are moneysaving ideas on the Old Style board.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Surely if unemployed, ANY job is suitable if it brings in monies to pay the bills???? A lot of people are forced into this kind of situation, losing jobs. Also there are an awful lot of people working for the minimum wage or thereabouts in order to bring in monies to pay their bills and support their kids. This is nothing to be sneezed at. Many people have pride and take whatever jobs they can 'just to pay the bills'. We would ALL love the 'PERFECT' job but unfortunately there are not really that many out there and tooo many people trying to go for them.

I'm actually surprised that you haven't had problems with JCP about the small number of jobs you've applied for; I thought that 2 a week was the very minimum acceptable.
Now that you've been unemployed for 3 months, you'll be expected to step up your applications by looking over a wider employment and geographical area.
I know that things are difficult at the moment and jobs are scarce but I can't believe that there have only been 7 retail/labouring/kitchen/bar/care jobs within travelling diistance during this period.
I appreciate that things are tight on jobseekers but I can't see that you'd be any better off by moving in with your parents as you'll still have your food and share of your bills to pay. It might make more sense to go down this road if you get a low paid job as you can pay a reasonable amount for your keep and still have money in your pocket.0
