Hi guys, Been on jobseekers allowance since january 19th, live in a 2 bed house on my own (kids visit when they can bothered!)
i currently get £124 a fortnight, yet i still have to pay the same bills as if i was at work, minus rent and council tax, now if i live with my parents, i would still get the same amount, but not have the bills! is this right?
is there any hidden extras thats can help me? i know they dont like to make "help" public so to speak, i was just wondering, apart from get a job, which i am trying to, is there anything?
I dont want benefits for my children, as they do not live here.
Thanks guys.

Are you in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance (Income Based) or Job Seekers Allowance (Contribution based)?0
-
its contribution based, just over £60 a week0

Surely you would still contribute to the utilities if you lived with your parents? It is your choice to live alone, and whilst you have every right to do so, the govt will not subsidise your more costly choice further than that of someone that takes the cheaper option.Gone ... or have I?0

i moved out of parents when i was 16, i am now 28, have worked all my life up until now, i lived with a partner, that went belly up, so basically, becausee i am on benefits for the first time in my life i should " move back to my parents"!!
i found it hard when i was working, but kept going, all i am asking is if there is any other help i may be able to get, or because i am a single male, living on my own, i shouldnt ask??
i could write my bill expenses down, not includin internet costs, and i come up at minus £19 every month!!!0 -

I didn't say you should move back, but rather that the govt does not (and should not) differentiate between you and anybody else that is out of work. I live on my own, but that is my choice, not something that is forced on me.Gone ... or have I?0 -
That is true, and i respet your opinion, but being laid off work due to the economic situation was not my choice, it was forced on me.
i suppose until a suitable job does arise, i will have to make do the best i can.0 -
Jobs are like hens teeth these days, do a bit of ebaying on teh side

funny you should say that, i have been, i did collect footy memorabilia, but am coming to the point when im running out of stuff to sell on there!
I do have a nice display cabinet, oak effect aluminium, lights, shelves (removable) if anyones interested! lol
seriously, i hate being in this situation, and have allpied for about 7 jobs in the last 3 months, and not one reply!
i cant see how the people who "dont want to work" can seriously survive!!!0 -
maybe you should use your knowledge of football memorabilia to get more and then sell it on?0
-
you need the money to buy it to be able to sell on!!!!
