You could always email one of their directors: rbeswick @ lycamobile.com or laura.loades @ lycatel.com

I agree that their level of customer service is appalling.

They give out misleading information about for example being able to port in to the new "plus" sim cards.

They are a bit of a joke.

What's the alternative? Orange camel: too expensive, o2 your country: too expensive, Lebara: poor reception/call quality, Vectone: awful call quality, Gosim: appears expensive.

    Hi
my input on LycaMobile :o we have been using lycamobile plus sims since they came out - around jan/feb 2010 i think, before this we had plain lycamobile sims.

Lycamobile Plus does have something to do with the O2 network, my phone shows itself as being on the O2 network although all calls etc are definately Lycamobile.

To call my daughter/husband/son, who also have Lycamobile Plus sims in their unlocked mobiles, costs 10p - connection charge - and we can talk as long as needed.
To text each other is free.
All this is as long as we top-up at least a fiver a month.

Text messages to all other networks has been 10p each sms including international, which works well for us.
Call charges to other networks and international are also minimal - around and under 15p a minute (I know that we call Pakistan for only 9p a minute landline and mobile).

I have never had to call customer services, although my daughter regularly calls them and checks the duration of monthly special offers, she has not had any problem getting through - as with all call centres, be prepared to wait and its a free call!

Clarification - I do not work or have shares in Lycamobile, just am a happy customer. :D

    Good Luck to you all

digp if you were asking me, the answer is no, no-one has said they have been charged
but i guess if anyone was charged anything above 'normal' rates then they would have mentioned it

Hi! I ported my number to Lycamobile PLUS last week and I haven't had any problems?? I think they have the best promotions- better promotions than anyone else so why not use them?? Maybe customer services aren't great but the quality of calls are really good. 5p per minute to call South Africa and no connection charge ( I checked before I made the call, timed the call and then checked afterwards). Maybe I'm missing something, but I think they're quite good...

I just got a shock on my phone bill - calls to LycaMobile are not included in my monthly allowance (T-Mobile). I've been lumped with an £8 surprise at 30p per minute. Apparently other mobile firms do not include Lyca in their inclusive minutes - customer services told me I will be charged to call any Lyca number beginning 07405, 07404, 07424 or 07466. Something to be aware of!
  • My mum calls home to Croatia on her Talk Talk landline and needless to say - the calls are v expensive! So I'd like to get her either a Lebara or Lyca PAYG SIM.

Any advice on which of these two is better? Or is there an altogether better alternative?

    Thanks!

I can be missing something, but I see 5p/min at Lebara and I see 1p/min for calls from a landline at http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/croatia/talktalk/all

If she has inclusive minutes to 01/02/03 numbers http://www.localphone.com/call/croatia 1p a minute to croatia landline and NO connection charges via a geographical access number they supply.
