I am so inspired by this thread

It has motivated me to get our kitchen done sooner rather than later - I will take a before picture and post it. At the moment it's bright orange, with a completely broken unit. Thats it. I think the previous tenant was mad. Anyway, we will be sorting our kitchen out and I shall post pictures. We do not have to replace the floor though, as there is already a beautiful tiled terracotta floor in place.

I'm so excited!

THis is where my boring food plan for this week will be prepared. You might notice some pink on the walls. Since the photos were taken there is now a glass splashback behind the cooker. Some of the walls haven't been painted yet. One door hasn't arrived yet. It's not that tidy at the moment. The CIF cleaner has now been replaced by the stardrops & vinegar cocktail. Not as fragrant, but cheap and effective!

Purpleivy...I hate you and your kitchen! It is absolutely gorgeous and makes me feel very deprived in my mishmash kitchen that I hate more every day...sorry

Well Marie I love it too!. I've really had my share of mish mash kitchens and mish mash everything! One of the reasons I've turned up here is because I'm trying to save money in order to pay for the rest of it as soon as possible. I'm only able to do so well at this because of the fabulous support and ideas that I'm getting here. Thanks!

wahts the big white unit in the middle? is it a serving hatch or a mirror ?

must be wonderful to have a kitchen totally to your taste and unique. i love it. very lucky lady

Hello everyone
I'm loving being able to see where you carry out all your old style concoctions! I'm moving in a few weeks to what was my Grans house we have updated the living room and the bedroom but the kitchen has to remain the same until we have more funds. At the moment it it's retro to say the least it was put in in the 1970s we still have old style orange cuboards and a yellow gas cooker with a daisy on the front. I will have to take a photo to let you all see. It's been nice to see your kitchens, its given me lots of ideas about what I want when we put in a new one.

The right hand side unit with the hob etc is a very dark brown (Wenge effect) laminate. The work tops are a synthetic granite in speckled off white. The right hand side of the island units have doors in this too. The left hand side is more of a walk way through. There is a mirror in the middle of the units which are 'bone white' gloss effect. These aren't that deep, just deep enough for a large dinner plate. I have all the best china, glass and booze cupboard there. Hope that explains it. On the LHS of the island are shallow cupboards too.

Would like to get a couple of nice bar stools for the end of the unit.

I thought baking tray envy was bad... then cooker envy couldn't be expressed.... and now whole kitchen envy...arrghh!! :rotfl:

I still can't believe it's mine. Still having trouble with the last few things with the builders.... the joiner came to fit 2 doors that we had to have made as they are awkward sizes. Been waiting 2 months. One he can't fit for some reason, so the old one is back in (the left of 2 on the pic, goes to the cellar) and the other he has fitted rather cleverly so that the light switch is behind the door. And the handle is at the wrong height .... builder boss here for a meeting tomorrow afternoon.
