Well after yesterdays dreadful attempt at trying to drag my modern kitchen back to the 1800's I have now stooped to rumaging through others peoples rubbish. Are there no depths to which I will sink in the kitchen one upmanship? LOL Trotting home from school today I noticed a chrome veg rack poking out of a skip so I've snaffled it and cleaned it up a bit. Could some of you expert clutterbugs tell my if I'm getting the hang of this worktop detritus malarky.
Here's my attempt at shabby chic (please don't titter, I really tried this time) LOL Feel free to oogle the SC it has an onboard computer:p £4 from a carboot.

To fend off some of the cruel jibes about me not being as well endowed as some of you expected in the kitchen department I would like to point out that I was palnning to knock through to the laundry room and freezer area but never got around to it. I'm sure the above pic will leave you in no doubt that my vegetables are in fine shape.;)I had a very large, square, farmhouse type kitchen in the last house and I don't miss it TBH, too much walking about for my taste, in my little kitchen everything is one arms reach away.

I'm afraid to say though that some of them look a little too "clinical" and "showroomy" for my taste and it's hard to imagine that any cooking ever takes place in them, which obviously isn't the case ... with the exception of Nels that is:whistle: ... as we know you do all like to cook OS, but in some there's no evidence of anyone even living there!
I like a kitchen to feel homely and to be able to see what goes on in there, as well as all the gadgets etc everyone uses, rather than just look at a row of cupboard doors and empty counter space, which I can do in a kitchen show room... I also like to see the personality of the kitchen/owner too, or maybe I'm just a nosey old cow LOL!
I know what you mean CQ - I particularly love sarahsavers kitchen..although it's the total opposite to mine!
With mine though, I've got so much cupboard space/pan drawers/a pantry etc..that I can put everything away..yet it's ALL very handy when I need it! I'm afraid I don't really do clutter on the worksurfaces very well..too much hard work when it comes to cleaning!! I can just quickly wipe my surfaces, without having to move stuff!

Well quite, and each and every kitchen is lovely in it's own unique way. I could spend hours looking at other people's kitchens
I guess if I had more cupboard space then I'd probably have just the minimal stuff out on display too, as like you say it's much easier to keep clean, but me and clutter seem to go hand in hand so it would never stay like that for long LOL!
I love your kitchen, very classy and stylish and one I would love to own myself!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I would love a farmhouse kitchen with lots of things hung up and a large pine table in the kitchen
But my kitchen is big but not big enough for that
I love my kitchen because its easy to clean and everything is put away but easy to get at
still havnt finished it yet tho paint and tiles to go pictures etc
and i want a siver pole under the cupboards where i can hang all my utensils
The only thing i miss is putting my kids art work on the fridge because as mine is built in the magnets dont stick
Looking at all these lovely kitchens it brings back a lot of happy memories when i used to have loads of pictures what the kids had done and magnets from all our holidays
Is there such a thing as a magnet board so i can hang one up and still have my magnets and my youngests art work(my other children so bother now lol)
plus somewhere to put my appointments as ive got a head like a sieve :rotfl:0 -

The whole point of the thread was so we could all get ideas from each other. It was never about who has the best or worst kitchen.0 -
Curry_Queen wrote:TM - fab kitchen but yours is one of the ones that surprised me being so ... how can I put it without causing offence ... but so "clean" looking LOL!
... wasn't expecting white units from you!
Hiya CQ
That's the kitchen that came with the house. Although the old couple who we bought the house off said it was only about 5 years old, I think their tastes were still firmly in the 80's when it came to decorating and new kitchens/bathrooms (still, very modern for them) It's a nightmare to keep clean and I can't ever get a homely feel to it (it just looks messy and cluttered) I don't usually have the main light on - just the under cupboard lights as that makes it feel better - but the pics wouldn't have come out with my poor camera without the fluorescent .
CQ - I'm going to pm you. Hope you get it. Speak soon. xx0 -
Can I join in please? Here's mine too - it doubles as my "workshop" as
well though - I make miniatures (furniture and dolls), so is often full of
sawdust and tools. I'm not much of a cook though, but the Rayburn is great
for baking polymer clay) I'm not a messy cook, but by golly I can sure
make a mess in that room when I'm doing crafts! I'm cheeky and have put a
pic of the items I'm working on at the moment too! I think you're all
very brave, and good sports, and my fave one so far is Purrpaws, but I do
rather like my own too. I do like to see a room "lived in" and the ones
with kiddy pics on their walls make me smile (no kids of our own, but 19
cats instead, which sort of makes up for it).
