All your kitchens are so lovely!! I'm really jealous, mine really is nothing more than a cupboard!!! I'll post piccy this evening!! Should I tidy up first or would we all rather see it lived in??!!Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

What a great thread. I love all the kitchens. MATH, I have your clock and I have the same handles as Sweetpea.
I can't show you mine yet because I can't get to my camera which is buried under a load of stuff out of the bedroom because we're having a laminate floor laid and the fitter has run out of laminate so goodness knows when that will be done.
My kitchen is of the clinical variety. Glossy "vanilla" coloured units with black glossy worktops. It's quite big so I have plenty of cupboards and all my gadgets have a special place so that I can just lay my hands on what I want. The fridge and freezer are built in and are raised up because I can't bend down so everything is within reach. It's lovely to have a big kitchen after the tiny one I had before. I had a hanging rail with all the utensils on but got fed up of them looking dusty when they hadn't been used for a few days so now they are in a drawer.
I also have a freezer in the garage and I have a big cluttered pine dresser in the dining room.0 -
Justin,
Love your Rayburn, woodburning or paraffin fired? My folks have a paraffin one and it's great for cooking on etc, and also warming your bum in the Winter time. :-)“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
All these pristine kitchens have rattled me a bit because mine is nothing like that, I'd love more space so there were less things on the worktops but nothing is really clutter - it's all stuff that's in regular use - the kitchen is my ebay packing bay as well as the usual food prep place - that's why there is a plastic container with a tape gun and airmail stickers etc. The kenwood chef is under the cat teatowel
The plastic folders are full of my cutout recipes all indexed into categories and shoved amongst them are printed out recipes from Old Style, I just realised that my candlelamp shades with the zebras are on top of the fridge where I put them at Christmas because I put green ones on them because zebras didn't really seem appropriate.
The little shelf thingy is full of my ebay and antique fair jugs and odd cups that are too cr***y to sell but too nice to throw away so they ended up on the wall.
The rest of the kitchen is showing it's age, it was put in 20 years ago so you just get to see the corner.0 -
Sheesh - there's no pleasing you lot, is there?
I know you're not meant to put plastic jugs on top of the hob (slaps own hand) but in my defence, m'lud, it hadn't been on all day and is so useless it wouldn't even slightly melt it. My 'wok' ring is so bad it can't even sustain a roiling boil on a pan of pasta
Mr TM is currently 'in residence' in the kitchen, doing sterling work with a dishcloth and tea towel (altho to be fair I had cleared up before tea - honestly)
It will soon be back to it's clean and empty/clinical/boring self (delete as you see fit) It's Ok - it's far from my ideal kitchenIt's very very dark too, which doesn't help it's 'homeliness'

I don't know if anyone else is the same but my kitchen has photographed far nicer than it is in real life so I wouldn't get too rattled AT:D I thought I was the only one to snip, folder, catagorize and file recipes. LOL nice to know I'm not alone. Another thing I do with snipped recipes that I havn't put into clear folders is to put them under my clear glass chopping board when I'm cooking. It keeps them clean and stops the blowing away when the whirlwind MATHLETTS barge through demanding HM biscuits and glasses of milk.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0
