If and when you get a sight gauge, check to see if it connects to an open/close valve at the bottom. And if it does, make sure you know which is the open position .... and make sure it's returned to the open position when you have an oil delivery.

If it remains closed (as the delivery man sometimes closes it) then it continues to show you have a full tank even when it's empty. Hence, I didn't know we'd run out of oil in October when we had the coldest weeks for ...err ..well, it was bloomin cold.

So ... keep the valve open!
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
  • I use a garden cane as well

I did have a watchman until the battery died after the first year - then no matter how often I changed the battery - it still wouldn't work!!!
    I want to...........?

Big stick for me as well - personally I use an old metal videla mop handle, but it does the job. Idiot-proof and costs almost nothing (and it's good MSE practice!!!)

    Hi

Watchman retro fit probe available here. http://www.bhl.co.uk/product/TITAN_OIL_WATCHMAN_NIVEAU_RETROFIT_KIT

It 'retro-fits' fits to single skin oil tanks, steel or plastic and includes the electronics content gauge.

Any idea where they are based as I couldn't find their address on their website?
