in Credit cards
I applied for the infamous 9 months 0% balance transfer in December. Got accepted, sent the credit form back signed along with a utility bill, as requested. Nothing. After telephoning constantly was told i needed to send a payslip in. Nothing.
After phoning constantly again, was told that as I had moved jobs i needed to send in my new contract of employment, and if i went into the branch it would be faxed over and my new card would be sent out immediately.
I waited forty five minutes in the bank, being ignored, because I had actually made an appointment, but nobody seemed to know about it, so they saw everyone else first. It was only when i complained - rather loudly - that why was i surprised, I had only waited nine weeks for my credit card.
Now as it happens, since i applied for my credit card, things have taken an unexpected turn for the worse. I was made redundant the day before i was due back at work prior to returning following maternity leave. I have not been paid since December and obviously money is so tight its unbelievable.
So when i ring on Tuesday and ask has my card been sent, I was told by the parrot who lives somewhere abroad, that my credit card had been declined!! Try again in six months time. NOT BLOODY LIKELY! This has only happened because of my situation. I know some of you out there will think i am having problems paying now, why get another card. But i wasn't having these problems when i applied. Could they not have told me last week, instead of making me go down to the bank and wait, I am so cross and want to complain for all the time wasted. Does anyone know who to write to!!!!
Thanks
Sam

Im in similar position now as well, was accepted/approved whatever you want to call it and even last week was told credit limit and card was being sent out. I called again just now to see where card was, and they tell me I was declined?? I've got a letter saying 'thank you, your application has been approved!' I shouted a bit and was given his direct number with a promise for customer care to call me and get this sorted out. They have picked the wrong time to mess with me and i wont let this lie!!! Useless bunch of muppets though.

What is the procedure where HSBC have carried out another search without my knowledge or permission? They did another search on me today, but when I was speaking to them earlier, when I was asking what the 'adverse information' from experian was and they couldnt tell me, so I said you must know, you have done a search.... so she said I can't tell without doing another search but recommend you to do that. I clearly said I didnt want another search, and she confirmed this and said I would need to speak to experian/equifax to find out. Later she called me and said they had done another search but it "wouldnt show up to other lenders" even though I asked her about a follow up search earlier and said other lenders would see ANY searches. Either way I was not asked and did not ask them to do another search so will need to check if it has been recoreded at more expense to me now! But as Im trying to hit back at them with anything I can, are there any laws or regulations brokeen by them doing another search?

This sounds UNBELEIVABLY iffy!!!!! Very good luck with the tribunal - your employers will have to have a really really cast iron case to get away with this!

Don't worry - my claim at the moment is £25,000. The boss was really as mad as a box of frogs and he was going through financial difficulties. Out of sight out of mind as they say - lets not pay the woman on maternity leave! Backfired big time, cos when i made a stink he basically got rid of me.
Trouble is I am so so skint now. DH been out of work 10 months, have been managing quite well up to now, but all gone pear shaped big time. Couldn't even get job seekers allowance cos he hadn't confirmed my redundancy. Good to know I will have the money at some point, but trying to keep the wolves from the door is not easy. This HSBC card would have just about done it, but oh well. Was not meant to be.
Thanks to all who replied, I have emailed my 'complaint/rant' via the internet. They will endeavour to reply within two days. We shall see.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

This must be a real problem for people who are shifting debts between 0% introductory deals - you need to be pretty certain that your new card will arrive before the old one finishes. Certainly sounds like one to avoid!£2 coin savers club: £1.49
