The Times article is very interesting - it mentions that after spending ages sanding the 'skipped' mirror and painting it pink; when hung, Kirsty found out it made everyone look short and fat :rotfl:

The mirror is not going to lie, the fact is Kirsty is short - which accounts for the ridiculous heels - and round.

I thought the show was a riduculous waste of time and was astonished at the amount of clutter that she obvioulsy likes to accumulate, along with the direction to buy junk.

Spending money on junky rubbish for occasional use is not MSE, I would rather spend a bit of money on nice stuff that will last for years and years. She was clearly spending a fortune on the refurb, I was wondering why she bought 4 nasty looking chairs (one for each bedroom??) for £35 but I suppose if it was for a holiday rental she needs to invest in stuff she can afford to get trashed! So much for the kitchen being the heart of the home!!

I thought this too - when she said she 'needed' 50 pictures to put up
I was astonished!! Did a quick calculate and realised we have 16 pictures in the whole house (not counting the kids' bedrooms here, as the revolting Iron Maiden posters surely can't be counted, can they???)

Can't wait to see what she does with the art work, though - we've got a couple of lovely original oil paintings of local scenes that I bought from the local art group exhibition; £50 apiece, and they're lovely!

I just did a count up and we have 40 up at the moment and once we have finished the kitchen there will be a few more to put up. I love pictures........

I loved the programme! I thought it was meant to be for ideas and inspiration rather than how to MSE. The glassblowing was interesting - now of course you couldn't fill your home with hand-thrown glasses but one or two beautiful hand crafted items are lovely I think.

I already make some things myself - cards and also jewellery to match what I am wearing as well as some beaded things - and I would love to try knitting some cushion covers and a throw for our home. So to me it was about the inspiration to try new things.

Actually the shabby chic look is not me at all but I did love Kath Kidson's house - all sleek and modern and simple but with colourful fun accessories. Fabulous!

I don't think I'd be so bold to put up a sign saying WOW in my kitchen, no matter how Wow I thought it was myself. Not particularly fond of the poster/picture in a childrens playroom either!

I have no time for Ms Allsopp. In my opinion, she has spent the last few years ramping property prices and pushing the idea of easy money from property investment, and when it became clear this was becoming unsustainable she stubbornly refused to accept it, showing only an apparent ignorance of economics in the process.

The impression I get of this programme is that she is 'playing at being poor' and desperately trying to reinvent herself as more recession-friendly.

Oh I Sky-plus-ed the programme as I'm trying not to watch TV this week and get some more productive stuff done, but now I think I may be disappointed.

I want to get some inspiration from the programme although it would have been nice if they had included more details than it sounds like they have. Oh well I'm sure it will still be entertaining and inspiring if not that helpful practically.

I suppose many of us on here take some of the stuff for granted but it is probably aimed at people who didn't think about money saving until recent times. Still there are quite a few programmes to go maybe it will get more practical - maybe a gentle start for those new to the idea?

I also love looking at her various shoes!

Yes definitely the O/S forum was here way before all these programmes, there is even the book Thrifty Ways, which was out before India Knight, Channel 4 et al jumped on board.
