The bloke mucked you around and it was on the cards that he would refuse a mutual as well. Don't post the ID here as it will show who you are as well and that is not a good idea.

Unfortunately by doing the mutual the very thing Steve warned about has happened. Buyer has walked away scot free, not a blemnish on his account and you have paid FVFs.

I'm very peeved at ebay for not replying either regarding his messages trying to haggle! Not fair... Can i post his i.d here for all to see????

As far as ebay are concerned you were the one who wanted to cancel as you sent the mutual, they have no need to reply at all now. The buyer indicated he did want the item, so he can of course now leave you feedback saying you refused to sell.

I wish i'd asked on here for advice first :(
I did assume since he claimed he could not afford full price he would be happy to cancel, and therefore not get any sort of strike, how stupid am i?
A quick google search of his name and address has brought up http://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/news/Operation-Village--THE-GUILTY.2856993.jp
If google doesn't know it, how should i?

Buyers might not want to pay but they seem to hate confirming a mutual as well.

Fingers crossed he doesn't leave feedback now.

Yes the only way to stop a buyer from leaving feedback is to go through the full NPB dispute without the buyer responding. There are also exceptions where feedback 'may' be removed after a full dispute even where the buyer has responded.
