    Ok

RIGHT click the combofix exe file and RENAME it to 'QWERTY' (Making the FULL name 'QWERTY.exe')

Then run that (And yes ~ disable whatever it asks for 'if you can')

    No

Sounds like somethings blocking it from running
open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.

If still no joy then run a KASPERSKY ONLINE SCAN (click to scan 'MY COMPUTER')

Is a hijack necessary in this case or is that just overkill

It's mega overkill, it was only a website set out to fool you - at most you would have had a cookie from it.

Did you look at the Malwarebytes log? The user still may have a infection and this was found in the HJT log O20 - Winlogon Notify: fsmgmt - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\fsmgmt.dll
