Uk Secured Credit Card

I remember back in the day

You could get a woolwich credit card which limit was secured to your deposit, is they a company who does it these days?.

It was great I paid £5k got a £5k limit, 80% of the limit then Balance transferred it to Barclaycard!, then got my £5k back when i close my account.

I have searched high and low for one, but can only find eastern european and us cards can anyone direct me to a uk lender?

In the UK these are called Pre-Paid cards and you top them up with whatever money you want, spend, top up etc etc :eek:

Loads to choose from such as Virgin, Tuxedo, The Sun Prepaid Card, Xtreme Prepaid.... loads

Right for those who are a bit thick

A secured credit card is one where you place a deposit in a savings account of the bank issuing the card, they then give you a credit card which matches your deposit.

It then operates like a credit card you can use it up to the limit, pay the invoice once per month etc etc.

After a while they return your deposit and it reverts to a normal credit card, you can then transfer onto a main stream card.

Woolwich provided it last time many many years ago, i know capital one did something with people with bad credit where you pay them £200+ they give u a limit once paid on time for a while you get the deposit back.

Unless someone can tell me who does one now, bit of a gap in the market there, people wanting to get a credit card onto their files which will truely improve the file.

Capital One top account you can only apply with a 5k limit elsewhere 1st for instance!.

I had a secured Woolwich card. £500 limit back in 2000. I swapped to a BOS and closed it later that year.

Also I had a secure card with Capital One as well, it was a £250 limit in September 2005.

I was referring to never in doubts post!.

I know all about secured accounts they are only good when they report the reference agencies, the only i know that does is the cashplus one, but that costs you £60 for the privilage!.

There is a bit of a gap in the market there for someone, end of the day if you default they take your deposit!.

In the UK these are called Pre-Paid Cards. There is no such thing as a secured card anymore. What part of that is difficult to comprehend?

2000 was 9 years ago - if I remember back in 2000 I was using a Pentium 1 processor which was one of the fastest and best processors out there.....

Times change my son, it's not a question of intelligence!:rotfl:
