Has anyone dieted whilst Pregnant?

I was wondering if anyone has dieted whilst being pregnant.
I am currently 10 + 1 but becasue of the horrendous sickness all ive done is eat to try and calm the sickness down (although its not worked)
Ive gone from a small 14 to a 16 in this small space of time (putting a stone on so far)
Last time I put on 4 stone in total and when I look at my old maternity clothes they are huge but sadly I know i will be heading back that way if I don't do something about it.
My H did WW whilst I was pg last time but I wasn't allowed to join but I was wondering if you think it would be ok to follow?
Im going to start the excercising and healthier eating once this sickness has stopped although last time it stopped at 16wk so I have a long way to go (and fear I will have put a fair amount of weight on again by that time!)
Any help or ideas??

There is nothing wrong with starting and following a normal healthy diet (ie cutting out crap and eating more fruit & veg etc), but I wouldn't recommend following a diet PLAN at all. (Plan as in WW, slimming world etc)Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

Although they do let you join slimming world if your pregnant as long as you have your midwives consent

But i personally dont think its worth the money.
I agree with shellsuit though, just eating more healthy foods would make a huge difference
I should start eating more healthily but i cant lol. I blame the baby :P

ooh Evansangel, Ive just noticed that your due date isn't far off mine, 11/11/09.
Im feeling soooo lethargic and sick I just want it to stop, I would love to be exercising and eating healthy but I can't face it so was hoping that if i had something to stick to i.e. writing down etc It would help me focus0 -
Could you write it down and concentrate on something other than weightloss, such as five or more a day?
Is there any exercise you could do? One of my friends used to go swimming and to aquanatal, think it was very gentle exercise and just for pregnant women.0 -
hmm yes i think I'll have a look into aqua natal classes, will prob be next week though once the kids go back to school as all classes are closed during holidays.
I think youre right Im going to have to go to the shops and get things like carrots and celery and cucumber for snacks, Is ryvita with philli or cottage cheese ok?
All my body wants is stodge arghhhhhhhh0 -
Don;t diet!
I went up two dress sizes by the time I was about 8 weeks pregnant and it wasn;t fat - just body changes, so please don;t worry about it.
I've stayed that dress size up til now (26 weeks) so you won;t necessarily get any bigger.
Far better to eat well and make sure you get plenty of water, fruit and veg.
I have now put on 1.5 stone in total but most of that went on in the first trimester! YOu may be just like me and not really put much more on from this point, so please don;t worry.
As long as you eat healthily your body is just doing what it needs to do to make a healthy baby for you - and that's what you want isn;t it?

Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Thanks Girls I know i shouldn't worry but it was a shock when I got out my old maternity clothes cause they were huge!!!
I suppose it doesn't help when everyone around me that is pregnant & nearly due and are still in their normal size 8 clothes! argh!!!!
I will stick to healthier eating and water if i can!!!
Glamazon, which is the best pregnancy thread, ive just had a quick look and there seems to be a few difference ones?0 -
Will you feel better if I tell you I have put on several stone too and I'm 8 months at the moment
Haven't really eaten that unhealthily just loads of food - tonnes of fruit and naughty carbs
Thing is your body tells you what you need most of the time - eat healthily by all means but do NOT diet whilst pregnant unless you have spoken to your GP and MWDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
I did WW for 2 months last year (and lost 2 stone) and there is indeed a WW pregnancy plan to follow, which obviously allows for more calories per day. I did mine online (not pregnant one, although I'm sure that's on there too).
However, I'd personally just wait until after you've given birth and then really give it a good go. In the meantime I would increase exercise (swimming is fab for pregnant ladies) and just try to reduce fatty and sugary foods (but not cut out totally, of course). If you start reducing the amounts of food gradually then your body will get used to the more normal sized portions again and you will probably lose some weight as a result, but don't worry if not as you can really diet properly after birth.Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10
