Having re-read the announcement I think it means the four accessories categories 'within' the clothes, shoes & accessories section and also the clothing and shoe care section within it - so not 'clothes' section as such.0

MOG Thanks guys
Ive just logged into eBay and read the announcement, with the notices i get,
Me having a Malteser moment, Does that include baby clothes, Im still trying to get shut of DD3s stuff,
Doesn't make scene if you sell stuff in bundles, I sell most of DD1 &2s stuff that way and the postage is around £7-£9 with RM,
I don't want to start some thing of at £7 cos that's the postage cost then only sell it at £7 then pay fees:mad:
Dont eBay make enough money out of us with their fees plus Paypal
Must admit though my fees have come down loads with the free insertion as i do list all items at 99p, Some times it goes for 99p then some times it goes for for than I thought ,:oI'm all ways having malteser moments thats me :doh:0 -

As per posts 4 and 32 the main clothing category was not included on the original announcement. Go and read the actual announcement to see which categoties are included when this new system starts in June.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. eBay's justification is ludicrous:"Free P&P is increasingly standard on online shopping sites, and offering the same on eBay contributes to a higher rate of successful sales"
because it knows full well that P&P costs are absorbed at 'online shopping sites' such as Amazon UK thanks to the millions of items / £millions of goods turned over each day -- whereas an eBay private seller may have precisely. . . one item.
The justification is also transparent, quoting as it does something that was said not by eBayers but by eBay's own corporate bean counters:Excessive P&P costs are cited as a major reason for buyers spending less on eBay.
And of course, the less buyers spend, the less sellers receive, the smaller the FVFs pocketed by eBay.
The sheer amateurism -- as much as the arrogance -- of eBay's handling of its customer base gets ever more wearying. . .0 -
As a matter of interest, if I wanted to sell a ladies scarf or belt for example, which would fall in the 'accessories' category (free postage) is there any reason I couldn't just list it in the 'clothing' category? Not quite the correct category but I'm sure the majority of buyers would find it through a specific search.0

Ebay will cancel the listing for being in the wrong category, though it might slip through the net if it sells quickly.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I listed an item a while ago and was surprised there weren't many watchers/interest. On checking the listing it was an item I had relisted & changed but forgot to change the original category. :doh:This had been in the wrong category for approx 5 days.
Having just checked the help pages it gives examples not allowed such as listing a silver necklace in consumer electronics, a cookery book in sporting memorabilia. Also items which belong in a flat fee category, eg. vehicles, homes.0 -
I just had a listing pulled, I was selling an empty mobile phone box listed in the "mobile phones" category rather than mobile phone accessories I suppose. It had already run through a 7 week listing but was picked up after I relisted. Either someone reported it or it was picked up by Ebay, no doubt they will be checking the clothing categories for accessories.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

That will have been pulled for a different reason:
Sellers may not use the eBay site to enable, encourage or instruct others to infringe copyrights, trademarks or other rights
Example:
Encouraging Infringement Policy
An empty branded box, bag, tin or other container that could be potentially used to hold and sell a similar or identical product. (Exception: empty vintage boxes, bags, tins or containers that can generally be considered collectable items and are sold for such purposes)0
