Good luck Muffin. You can do it!0

Hi All,
Muffin99 I know if I can conquer my fears you can conquer yours! It does seem to be once you are in the mind frame to do it, then half the battle is won.
Today I sat in my friends garden and ignored everything that buzzed around me - she was amazed - for 5 years i have refused to sit in her garden! Again I watched the bumblebees - Megan went right up to one and watched then squealed with laughter when it flew off!
There was a mortar bee right behind me and I ignored that too:D
Haven't seen any spiders yet but should get to pick one up when i potter round the greenhouse later.
I'm not scared of worms.... they are the only insect that doesn't bother me i think. Spiders are worst then wasps, daddy long legs, flying ants, mosquitoes, midges, ants, flies, ladybirds, moths, butterflies(i know, i know),centipedes n millipedes, silver fish, slugs, snails! Did i forget any?
Bees are no longer on the list as i think i've sorted that fear...only a few more to go :wall:
Thanks for the great link on "pinching out" tomatoes - that has been printed out!
Happy sowing all.2009 - Attempting to grow my own Kitchen garden.....did it!!!

Megansmum, dady long legs scare the bejesus out of me. Spiders scare me but i can at least trap them and let them outside but daddy long legs are a completely different story. The summers where they are prolific are a complete nightmare. It's so daft i know, they dont do anything...Well apart from flying toward me like im a long lost parent or something hahaha!0

Huge well done Megansmum! You're amazing! :j
Ixwood? You know you said in a previous post that "wasps will catch mozzies and other flying insects"? Is this why they hover around so much? If I could understand their behavior it might help me. What freaks me out about them is that while bees fly by, wasps have this different way of hovering around the same place and often at face level and I kind of feel it's me they're targeting! They just don't want to clear off, if they do and they dart off I think Phew! but then they dart back again! What's all that about? Are they attracted to human's scent like mozzies are?0 -

Errmmm...I think you just might if you found they had decided to go "walkies" round your house whenever they wanted.....:eek:0 -
I don't like moths or daddy long legs they totally freak me out... im fine with everything else.. wasps, bees spiders all fine..
But daddy long legs and moths make me scream like a girl i can't sit in the same rooms as them, i've been locked out of my house for 40mins because there was one on the front door... they totally freak me out.
What is wrong with them?? it's like they have no sence of direction where ever you are they fly AT YOU!!! they just seem compleately insistant on attacking you... no other insect does that.
they are evil evil i tell you. This months aim :- Stick to food Budget / find £100 for my car insuranceMay GC :- £250/£234.55 :T:A:TJune GC :- £150/£127.37:eek:0 -
Thank you taye for making me laugh! I have been locked out the house too when daddy longlegs have decided my front door is their new home! The neighbours know now that if I come knocking it's either them or a spider barring my way in! It's so nice to know you are not alone!:rotfl:
Muffin99 - thank you as always for your kind words :A - you are my inspiration to succeed at this - it is hard to find people nowadays ready to give a supportive pat on the back and I have no-one around who does this. I get the roll-of-the-eyes "oh not again" and the "they're harmless you know", but unless you have a fear you cannot understand. My eldest is 17 and she is terrified of needles, i don't understand why because i don't have that fear, but i would never deride her for it, so again THANK YOU! You are a star! :starmod:
I sowed some lettuce today, planted my apple tree yesterday and tomorrow i'm sowing some sweet peppers and brussels again because i think mine are too spindly and weak to make it outside - i will leave the original ones to see if any make it - if i end up with too many i'm sure my hubbys family will happily take them off my hands
Megan enjoyed time in our garden this afternoon but had to be disuaded from uprooting the apple tree! In my friends garden she lay on the grass chatting to their rabbit - i just wish i knew what she was saying, she still jabbers on in her own form of talk. Although when she wanted 3 satsumas she managed to say "ta" pretty fast! All the time in the two gardens today meant she was in her cot for 7pm! Great for me getting to catch up with gardeners world and beechgrove garden on the iplayer - but it also means an early morning!

That's fab. Well done!
Aren't bumble bees cute? So industrious. As well as "uping" the spiders, maybe you can do the same with the bee distance. You'll be able to get 5 inches from the bees on blossom and they still won't notice/care. You can even stroke them.
I tried stroking a chicken yesterday, read about it on here from the "my hens name is Mabel" lot and thought it worth a go. The chicken sat there quivering and just glared at me with a beady eye, as if wondering which bit I was going to eat first. My reputation is preceding me.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
I agree - I don't mind watching , but I won't be stroking them!
Phobia update - today i picked up a medium size spider and put it on the ground. Sat in in-laws garden and was surrounded by something that looks like a thin wasp but just hovers! Don't know what they were but chuffed I ignored them. Knats were out too and I wasn't batting them away or running indoors to safety so all in all a good day I think!
Went up the allotment at 5.30 to see what i need to do to get it ready - the place was deserted of people but swarming with knats! I know what time of day I won't be doing any work! The place has been unused for years so it is chocka-block with thick weeds - ibruprofen stockpile commences tomorrow! Tonight I went to see the rickety old shed we're being given for up there - It will do for storing my tools. I need to make a compost bin out of pallets (as shown on gardeners world)! The amount of weeds i'll be pulling means next year i'll be sorted for free compost!
Nothing sown today, but in-laws had too many seed potatoes so i have another 14 of them to go in soon!
Can you pinch out too much on a tomato plant? I wasn't sure what to take so just kept going until i had 7 stems left!
