T-Mobile new charges for 08 numbers
Options
All,
I am a T-Mobile customer on a combi+web&walk package.
I recieved a text from t-mobile on the 2nd April saying “from 1 May we’re introducing a flat rate of 40p a min to call some numbers beginning with 08. For details of how this affects you go online to t-mobile.co.uk/08”
I have looked online and affected numbers are all sorts of 08 numbers including 0800, 0845 and 0871.
I have looked in my terms and conditions and my old rate for 0845 and 0871 numbers was 30p per min, and 0800 numbers ranged from being free to 10p per min.
So this is an increase in charges from what it states in my contract.
In the terms and conditions, under number 2.11.2 it states “if you are a consumer and the change is of material detriment to you, we will send you written notice one calendar month before the terms and conditions are due to change. The new terms and conditions will apply to you once the calendar months notice has run out unless you terminate your agreement with us within that notice period. If you do this you wont have to pay any cancellation charge that would otherwise apply, see point 7.2.5.2”
7.2.5.2 Just states that if you cancel within your 18 month term, you need to pay the entire line rental etc…
So do you think that the extra charges to the 08 numbers count as a ‘change of material detriment’ and also a text from t-mobile counts as ‘written confirmation’ and also if these are grounds to cancel my contract?
Thanks for your help!
