hi di, at least it was not a get lost letter lol ,hope this works out for him xx0

Hi folks
Thanks all for your wishes.;)
Okay an update on my hubby's situation.
They have contacted him, they are starting by taking on in batches, he is not in this first batch, they have his name down for the next batch which is the unit bit that is still being built, they have sent letters out to the first 5 to start next week and hubby was told that himself and 4 others are going to be called in - in due course to have a tour of the new unit, and a chat to the plant manager as they said he is more suited going by his steel work experience of the new part that will be opening by either August or early September.
So at this time its 3 batches but he will just have to wait, that is saddest part, but at least he have not been turned away - yet.;)
Letters does not confirm successful or unsuccessful, because its not over yet......, so it looks like before he receives a firm answer there will be another interview, well sort of...I think it will be a just a general tour of the new part though myself.
Okay the new part, as its more of a difficult job, he has been told the pay is even better again, but good things come to those who wait, although we think he's waited long enough.
He said he will abide his time by seeing if there is anything to go on with, even if its temp.
So will post as we hear more.;)
Hi Di
Am sure he is disappointed but this is a positive as well. Not too long to wait so fingers crossed for the new Unit.x:mad:0 -
Thanks Amersall and Maxdp.:A
Yes that is true, I told him at least they are still interested in him, but as he is more suited to the new part of the unit that will be opening maybe in a month or 2, it's just a matter of waiting, I can understand he is fed up, but then suggested that he find something even if its temp, until he hears from them.;)
He found out from another poor guy who attended the interview that he was not successful at all, hubby did not like to tell him about his position, I thought that was good of him.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Well it sounds like good news, find all the jobs that need doing while he's on his extended leave cos it's usually guaranteed that he won't find the time when he starts his new job.
You're probably going to say the same as me:
No job = no money to do things
New job = no time to do things
Hope you all have a good night, see you tomorrow.

Hi Karen and thanks.;)
Yes your right lol, still there is always something to throw in the tip.:D
What he have done is apply for another few anyway, as it seems to be picking up a bit now, it's only temp but its working for an army base, where they need some assisting maintanance workers, it's worth a try for now, pay not bad either to see us through, that one is about 8 mile from here so not all that far away really.
Will see how it goes.;)
Thank you.:A

Thanks Showergirl.:A
I am proud of him.
Now with employment starting to pick up again, I'm sure he will be okay, he received an email to let him know that they have submitted his CV to the army base, and hopefully he should hear by Monday or Tuesday as they want to take on more or less straight away, fingers crossed and it should see him well through whilst waiting for the other.;)
Will keep you all posted. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
afternoon all,
Di, I'm glad there could be something else to tide you over, at least hope helps to stop the depression and feelings of being too old/ on the shelf/ last in the queue. At times it is too easy to give into despair.
I've put Mrs Doom n Gloom away now and on a brighter note ........................it's raining. (If it's not with you yet Di it soon will be). At least the washing dried.
Hope everyone is well, thanks for returning the leftover get up n go , Max, it came in really useful today (6yr old grandson and Tescos to negotiate, lol). I don't know whether I hate doing it, paying for it or putting it away the most.

Thought I would bring the discussion of the Petition over here.
Dialysis came up with a great subject line, we do need to add something in regards of debt as well and why people are losing their homes not helped by this.
We are open to suggestions for ASAP.;) Cheers.
Marshallka where are you? lol.
To start here is the thread here of how to start a petition, it looks like we have to email or get in touch with the department on this first.
