impairment write down is well overdue.
They arent making money, no surprise. Seems alot like happened with KAZ writing down ENRC holding, well duh anyone who can read the market price knew already
Now they propose to take up the entire company as good value, which is probably completely the right move. Obviously money to do so is the problem, kaz is profitable though much less so.

CAD is tricky because they are not backed by their government like KAZ is, not being liquid can land them in a bad spot where they have to sell at the lowest prices. Which would be a shame!

well yesterday the VIX went up..but GOLD spectacularly fell with the markets..:eek::eek:

My final take for VIX is an event exceeding Lehmans. Obviously I dont know what or when but bad practise is routine now so 'slippage' in some asset prices beyond control and any price accuracy seems likely.
If prices are inaccurate it does seem to suggest far higher costs to price options in the market.

Instead we have the reverse, lower VIX with increasing confidence on increasingly larger amounts of cash available. Excess liquidity can be a source of instability ?
The High events marked below are all (potentially) deflationary but opposites can have surprisingly similar end results is my rough reasoning

It might be the market completely fails to cope, meanwhile gold is doing nothing different which apparently is why its useful - confusing :rotfl:

I took some GENL instead of KAZ for now. Sold off some Intel though big tech is a go right now Im told.
I would like to sell anything expensive but Im not sure what will fall most. BP and many things arent that expensive seems to me

What do you mean by CAD and liquid?

And is LCTM some mangled abbreviation of Long Term Capital Management?

They are one of the candidates for my next share purchase from incoming dividends. This will be my first major purchase since Silverdell last year, which was very much a value share purchase.

    Edit:

Hmmm, not quite true, my records show that I did grab some Greene King, Reckitt Benckiser and Real Estate Credit Investment prefs late last year, but I've pretty much ignored these since!

yes mangled, I drew that chart with crayons as per Peter Lynch :p

I should have topped up some BP at 440 just for that nice dividend

CAD has asset worth, thats why we buy it but the price is low because they are not producing cash.
So I hope they get it all rolling, I know its cheap in theory but it'll probably stay low till they get productive.
Im not saying they are in debt but proper investment costs money right, it's going to take a while before they are very cash flow positive

Yield on Co-OP debt is now 11% ? Is that tempting or foretelling

Godlike predictive skills there, they have haircut the bond holders I think.
Sounds alot like a rights issue to me how they will raise 1.5bn, I havent any of it but Im not a bond person really

Centricia, BP, ATK and Glencore I think Im holding onto as a core. If I was smart I might just stick to them but I have others still like CAD which has just circled since April
