Apple and Texas beat estimates, Apple by quite a bit.

Yes seems to be a bit of confusion over the Apple earnings as to whether the numbers are comparable to estimates, shares still halted in the after hours session Texas beat and is trading lower currently.

Today's action on the market was not overly inspiring, bit of a selloff into the close. 1105 remains short term resistance followed by 1115, with 1080 - 1085 as support.

Apple now trading again, big range 204 - 195 very volatile

The biggest tide change in this market so far, is that we are selling good news, this is a concern, bull markets ignore bad news and rally hard on good, bear markets ignore good news and sell off hard on bad. Not a good sentiment change from the bulls perspective.

Apolgies to Stevie, they released early? Back to the futures! :p futures price is currently near the lows of today, which would mean a flat ftse tomorrow roughly
Net income rose to $3.38 billion, or $3.67 a share, from $2.26 billion, or $2.50, a year earlier, Apple said today in a statement. Sales rose to $15.7 billion.

The company said it changed the way it accounts for iPhone sales, which means the figures aren’t comparable to analysts’ estimates.
    http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aDfjcFAijpz0&pos=1

analysts expect Apple to report an 18.6 percent increase in revenue to $12.06 billion and $2.07 earnings per share. That would be driven by sales of 8.9 million iPhones, 21 million iPods and 3 million Macs. The three-month frame ended in late December, and represents all of Apple's holiday sales.

Analyst Shaw Wu with Kaufman Bros. remains above Wall Street consensus, with expectations of $12.4 billion in revenue and $2.15 EPS. He issued a note to investors Monday morning noting there is potential for upside to his estimates. He has predicted sales of 22 million iPods, 9.5 million iPhones and 2.9 million Macs.
Apple said it sold 8.7 million iPhones and 3.36 million Macs in the quarter. Gene Munster, an analyst with Piper Jaffray & Co. in Minneapolis, said investors were looking for almost 8.8 million iPhones and 3.1 million to 3.2 million Macs
Im not sure how thats been taken exactly but I think today was possibly forming a base for maybe some recovery short term at least

SPY failed at the two day average price of ~110.39. Later closed below the daily average as I posted above which I think means on the day the average seller was better off at end of day then the average buyer

Ftse is struggling to regain a trend formed from lows of the autumn. I do see the tide going out but hoping for this trend (weaker imo) to kick in maybe, its 5300 & above

GDP positive tommorow for the UK apparently, too little too late to have big influence?

Correct, trades from Friday were to buy the futures into the close Friday if you are aggressive in the high 1080's (not my play btw) or my preference was to risk missing the move and buy the Sunday night open @ 1091 targeting 1102 (trade hit target pre-open). From there it was a simple short rallies, anything approaching the 1100 area with a stop over the overnight highs to target Fridays low. Yielded one trade in the afternoon

Last price I thought of buying Fres was 550 on their august results. If they got anywhere near that price that would be attractive and another silver company is HOC
    http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=hoc.l&m=L&d=
But I dont know what price to enter for that one, would probably scale in and watch silver price, closing price for SLV is 16.78 today and highest price in August was 14.79
    Quick link for HOC.......

Wall St. analysts have ranked UK stocks by earnings potential this year and list HOC at No.21 (funnily enough FRES is at 22).

I've decided that (when I get back in) I will split my FRES allocation between FRES and HOC.
