I flew Virgin booked through Airline networks a few weeks ago. With my e-ticket numbers I was able to log onto the Virgin site and choose my seats. I could also select any special meal requirements.

  • ynot - I think you're overdramatising this a little. Do you think it's fair that bargain-basement passenger sits in a nice bulkhead seat with lots of legroom whilst a full-fare passenger sits amongst a never-ending queue of people waiting for the toilet?

Perhaps you think everyone deserves the right to free changes/refunds on their booking? Because that's not how the airlines see it. If you want bargain-basement prices, you get bargain-basement privileges (ie. none)

Short haul or long haul, I just won't book if they can't give me a reference recognisable by the airline on it's website, you just know there is likely to be a catch.

I guess people have to sit somewhere and there are going to be bad seats and good seats.

I am travelling with Virgin to New york next month, and actually chose those seats at the rear (I have sat in them before). I like them because they have taken one seat out of the row of three and therefore lots more room. The queue for the toilet never seemed that bad because there were plenty of loos.

Starting to think I have now made a mistake!
No Matter what you do there will be critics.

Anyone know if I book with Continental through Airline Network whether I'll be able to pick my seats? I want to be able to pick one with a laptop power point and only around 1/3 of the economy seats have this.

Depends which aircraft, if it is a B747 then good, an A340 not so good.

Looks like if they give you a Continental recognisable reference then you can go to their website http://www.continental.com/ResMgt/pImportRes.asp?SID=F69CC1987CE4497EA6FA8BD9A50F243C

https://yourseatyourchoice.thomascookairlines.co.uk/webxsr/webxsr for Thomas Cook airlines a good tip is to select your seats and not pay for them and they are held for (I think) 7 days. So if you select your seats 5 days before traveling you get them for nothing...Great if there are loads of you or to pick off the best seatys before you get to the airport
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel
