You can get some lovely jewellery for a reasonable price. I think these are gorgeous, I would love to be given one of these, and they have a heart on them, so are romantic too:

When my friend had a baby, she was very pleased with a bracelet from her husband saying Mum. As I recall it was from Argos and wasn't expensive.

I def think you should get something for her, even if it is flowers.
  • I had a beautiful baby boy 4 weeks ago and the best thing my hubby could do for me is to clean the bathrooms and hoover the stairs and bedrooms...twice a week for the next month or so. That way I would never have to look at it and feel that it is getting on top of me.

Don't get me wrong - my hubby helps out and will do anything that I ask him to...it's the not having to ask that would make all the difference.

However, I'd take a very careful look at her style & other jewellery before buying something like this. I would be very offended to get this :o

How about a gorgeous breastfeeding bra? Most nursing bras are practical rather than pretty, but if you look on Figleaves.com I'm sure they'll have nice ones. OK they're not cheap (see if there are any discount codes available, and go through a cashback site), but at least it's something both for her and the baby, and it's useful.

I also agree with MFD's suggestion regarding housework. I'm not saying you don't do it anyway BTW, but especially since she's the one doing all the feeding (and it is very exhausting at this early stage), it would be lovely if she didn't have to worry about the housework at all. :)

Ok, just re-read your post and you asked for something soppy, which I guess bras and housework are not. :D How about a family photo experience type thing, you know like Venture type thing for £25? That would be lovely and soppy - a beautiful photo of your family? :)

Why not make a photobook on the internet of your first weeks/month with new baby?

Photobox do some lovely ones and you can get some vouchers by searching on here or on the net. You could include pics of her pregnant as well.

Or a session with a professional photographer for you all or just the new baby. They often have quite reasonable offers if you shop about.

I swear this is the best thing ever...was going to suggest the EXACT same thing....seriously when I had my kids I was on edge trying to get things done I COULD NOT relax........yeah you got to tidy for her!!!!!!:T:T:T

and when the house is in order...just tell her straight that you are going out with baby for 2 hours (or whatever) ...give an exact time and that time is her time to do whatever...don't say you are popping out for a walk because that could be anytime...you have to be precise with your time...

    am I sounding weird?lol

I would prefer that any day to anything soppy...but yeah Im weird!!lol
You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
    You just keep on walking

I am very insulted by this comment as I have a 'MUM' gold ring, I also wear a 'SISTER' one and DH wears 'DAD' one.
