  • Hi lucielle :hello:,

Make it red wine and I'll cook us a pot of mulled wine with oranges, cinammon, the whole lot. It's one of my favourite things about christmas! :rudolf:

  • Lucky I'm snowed in at home or I'd be off out buying wine at our local shop. Cheapest bottle £5- odds.

I've just withdrawn £50 of matched bet funds. Once it clears I'm tempted to reduce the abbey overdraft and just get that done so I can stop thinking about it. I have a few days to wait cos transfers can be quite slow.

  • Just withdrew another £75 from successful matched bets. Think I need this to cover bills next month due to late invoice payments. Thought I needed a lot more but forgot about OH's DLA arriving on 22nd...DOH!

  • I can't believe it...both of my banks have blocked debit card payments to betting sites. I had 3 qualifying bets lined up and can't do any of them.:mad:

How judgemental is that?!? Why can they not wait until I tell them if my card has been lost or stolen? :confused:It's not their money!

Abbey has started a new system with phone banking where you need a PIN. Which I don't have. And I was too furious to try the clydesdale but might do tomorrow.

I'll just have to wait til Monday and silently fume until then. I had a chance of making £70 tomorrow and it's gone.

  • Panic over. The clydesdale sorted my card so all bets have been placed and I'm now looking for odds for when the free bets come through.

    So it's all good.

  • Since starting my DFW battle I've not bought any chocolate. I thought I'd cope ok with homemade yummy things and baked some biscuits yesterday and a cinammon cake. However, I'm craving chocolate like crazy and strongly suspect one of my pressies from MiL, currently sitting under our tree, has chocolate almonds in it.

    Should I open it? :o

I'm worse than a child. In addition, I received my free coupon for a bar of milka chocolate yesterday but I just can't face doing the weekly shop at tesco and it's too far away to go just for one free bar of chocolate.

I'm also trying to work out a budget for seeds as I need to start growing things early in the new year. I don't really know where to start as I've only had one growing season and a lot of the seeds were gifts and bits and pieces OH had lying around.

Thinking about caulis, broccoli and lettuce is no substitute for a big bar of chocolate. Oh dear...

Just curious, why do you want to grow earlier?

  • Last year I grow most of my veggies from seed. Then some family members gave me a few plants for my birthday in springtime, which was lovely, but I realised at that point mine were so much smaller and probably should have been started earlier. In the end, mine did ok but the present plants did so much better.

It's hard to work out when to plant things cos most of the books refer to the south of england which is significantly warmer than scotland. And it's no good having a plant ready to plant out when it can still snow here in April!

Do you have any tips? I could really use all the help I can get especially around protecting your plants. All my cabbage got eaten by birds last year, pretty much overnight. I don't mind sharing with other creatures but they could have left some for me!
