Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 14th April 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning. Morning on what looks to be a wet and horrible day... Typical, I am in a dinghy sailing competition in Falmouth and it's going to be a wet day all day. I don't do sailing much, so don't really have the warm gear, so could be better.
Got friends down from Lincs, so they brought some nice saugages from both Yorkshire and Lincs.. I shall look forward to them next weekend.
We made pasties last night which were delicious, I think we have pasties again for lunch today too. Not sure of tea, I have a buffet thing, and I think they are going to do pasta home here.
Not much else to report.
Have a nice day

Morning all,
Been a really hot day here. Must be more rain around. Sigh. Been doing some baking this morning. I decided not to go with DH to work as he's not due back until night fall. I"ll go one day next week when he works 1/2 the day. I can shop & do lunch then.I made a lemon tart & a cake. I washed the lourvers upstairs again. I really need to wash the walls as I've got mildew breaking out everywhere. Maybe next week.
Having pasties for tea tonight. Can't think of anything else to say so I'll love you & leave you. Enjoy your day. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Good morning All, just having my coffee and reading Martains new email. I got the thermostat fitted yesterday, as soon as the electrician left, I started messing.......:rolleyes::rolleyes: Do you think I can
1.Remember how to work it...

Morning N9eav and Aussielass and all who follow.
It is very grey here too. Slight drizzle but has said on forecasts that it may clear up so here is hoping.
I'm at work at the mo, having the first coffee of the day waiting for the madness to start! At least I can have a slower start tomorrow as it is my day off. The only thing with Bank Holidays is that you have to fit the same amount of work into a shorter time but hey ho I still wouldn't be without them!!:T
Have brought hm soup for lunch with pitta bread and salad. Not sure what to do for tea tonight - have some chicken pieces so may well be sweet and sour or a curry. I am trying to build up a large supply of freezer meals by doubling up on cooking as I am having to do Jury Service shortly and that means I will be getting home later in the day so want to be quite organised and just have reheatable food.
Hope everyone has a good day. ((((((Hugs)))))) to all who need or want them. Fingers crossed for your Dad today SunnyGirl. Diva hope you are feeling ok.
Right need to start work, will catch up later

Morning all,
More raking out joints and re-pointing today, It's hard work but had a magic moment y/day. One of the stones I replaced had to be reshaped so with my hammer and bolster I split it and where it broke was the most beautifully formed Ammonite millions of years old and I was the first person ever to see it.
I put the stone back in with the fossils on show.
Stopped at 4.30 showered 2lbs of dust off me and made a Thia green curry for dinner tonight. Just cooked the rice. BM & WM on and DW emptied.
DD2&SiL2B went out for dinner last night so I had Charlotte for the evening. We gave them some money for Easter so they treated themselves. I think it's important they spend time together without Baby.
Nothing to do with me having time with Charlotte you understand.
Must Sardrop bathrooms & kitchen, vacume & flick through before getting back to out building work, even though we keep the doors shut the dust has found a secret passage to the house.
SUNNYGIRL, I hope you have good news today.
DIVA, Prayers for Tristan and hoping you hear something soon.
SMOKY, Did you have a good time?
((((((Hugs)))))) to all in need.0 -

Good Morning
Didnt hear any thunder last night but the rain woke me up so its all soggy here at the moment - will check the weather forcast in a min - see if I cant get more washing dry outside.
Office for a short while this morning then hairdressers this afternoon. Need to try and get DD an appointment at the orthodontist but they have been shut for nearly a week so probably not much chance for today.
Something out of the freezer for tonight no idea what if it is meant to be really nice will think about a barbeque but that will need a good scrub first.
Off now to do my free scratchcard. Have a great day.

Morning all,
I was woken at 4.30 this morning my the most terrific thunder and lightening storm, and little dog terrified and trying to get under the duvet , she hates storms, I think she thinks the world is ending.
Back to work today, so need to have a quick tidy round before I go, sc is going to go on in a while, I marinaded some stewing steak last night so will shove that in before I go. DD is at home with the dog, so she will keep an eye on it.
She also has to change her sheets and hoover through. Yesterday we made 3 small quiches from the leftover bits of cheese and some brocoli in the fridge, we had one and a bit for tea last night, and I think OH has taken some to work, they were delish. I also made a banana loaf, which is one of my favourites :T.
We went to the beach last night, and had an hour playing badminton, and frisbee, little dog wore herself out chasing the frisbee, and came home and slept all night
Ok better get on, work calls  have good days all xx0 -
Morning Guys!
Not been posting regularly as Im not well again....I know you get sick of hearing that:o but honestly, life is quite difficult atm. Nurse will be here soon though, to make the day abit easier.
Have 2 funerals next week to attend, but will see how I am as I also have 2 hospital appointments and dont think I can do it all.
BargainRzl-Lovely to hear from you!
I think we are in for rain today as my joints are hurting. OH bought me a new heatpad yesterday as my other one of 4 years had died, so that eases a bit.
WM & DW have both been on and will use the TD today also. Some frying steak needed using, so put in the SC last night with a cheap curry sauce and its lovely. Will have it on a baked spud for lunch I think. Just put it in raw and it cooked lovely.
DD going into town with her friends for cinema and something to eat. OH & I are going to watch a film.
Anyway, I had better go. Hope everyone is well.

Morning all......................((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))0 if you need one.
Horrid, dull, grey, wet ,depressing morning, thunder woke us both in the night, the rain hammering on the bathroom window, I got up and shut the doors.
Nothing planned for today, I have some mince out, will either do spag bol or mince with dough balls, propably the latter have quite a bit of veg to use up.
Waiting for the chap from the water board to come and see if we can get a water meter fitted.....I have not found the stop tap yet!!! I think Mr DIY bodger has hidden it below the floor of the sink unit........if they cannot fit one inside I am not having one at all. In my step sons house, we had one fitted in the street, there was a leak and it took them 18 months to sort it out and we still ended up paying more of the bill than we should have done. If they cannot put it under the sink then I will just pay the water rates, I had allowed about £30 a month for water anyway, a bit of a difference to the £8 we paid at the apartment, but them we only used the water for cooking etc. We paid for hot water through the rent.
Offsky to get some brekkie. OH is up so he can wait for the water man whilst I get a shower and dress, see y'all later. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0
