I think traffic wardens can only issue tickets in areas with yellow lines, parking times, Controlled Parking Zones or Residents Parking.

When I had my problems with the gym the traffic wardens weren't interested as it was a residental street, things may have changed though as now traffic wardens are far more motivated!

Traffic wardens can issue a ticket wherever a car is parked illigally. If the car is not parked illigally then the person does not have a leg to stand on in the first place.

Just an FYI as what I have to say goes against some of the posts on here...

When I used to live in Chester, I had to park on the street and basically anywhere I could find - anyway one day I went out to get my car and couldn't find it anywhere (I couldn't remember exactly where I parked as there were numerous streets I parked on)

Anyway I rang the police to report it stolen and they said it had been towed! This wasn't permit parking or anything like that - I realised the car had been parked in the first place I thought of (only doubted self when it wasn't there!) and I remembered I was only about 5cm over a white line - I had made sure the person could get off their drive cause I wouldn't be such an inconsiderate person!

I got a ticket AND towed so the police were obviously on form that day. The time on the ticket was 1hr after I parked there. I left a letter through the persons door to say they were a ****** especially as I knocked there and asked them if they saw anyone steal my car and they said no. Just being an !!!! I think!

Why don't you start parking your own car in front of the gates to get them out of the habit of parking there. That is something that would cause no offence to anyone.

If you do decide to persue this then take photos of the car and reg no, keep a dairy, ring the police about every car and keep the pressure up.

Are cows known parking deterents? ;)sorry.......you made me laugh

OP - if you are blocked in your drive, then the police can & will help. If you are blocked out of it they wont. Don't ring 999, but call your local station & explain the problem.

But why won't you approach your neighbours when their guests park there? Don't go over yelling, just go out for some reason at inconvenient times, & go over & ask them politely to get their guests to move. Preferably in the middle of the night :)

Have you tried putting a notice on the gate? Polite notice please do not park in front of these gates.

Or would the council allow you to lower the kerb as on a normal drive.

Short of that borrow someone's Rottweiler or German Shepherd and leave it sitting on the kerb outside your house.

    hi

kerb is lowered just not enough
for council standards its 3 mils too
high according to them. i was told i
would have to sign a disclaimer to say
i wouldnt sue council if car got damaged
i would lower it right down but
am only allowed to use company the
council says and they want £3000 to lower it

    thats a £1000 per mil
i dont have that sort of money
